Fillmore East, New York, NY, USA 31st December 1970 STEREO SBD(from Original Masters)

★A perfect soundboard that surpasses the official version!!
MOUNTAIN is a legendary band that left a huge mark on rock history with Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi. This superb sound board will tell the story of their heyday with quality that exceeds the official version.
The “New York performance on December 31, 1970” is a permanent preservation of this work. It is a stereo soundboard recording recorded at the legendary venue “Fillmore East”. Speaking of 1970, it was a golden age when two major masterpieces “CLIMBING!” and “NANTUCKET SLEIGHRIDE” were created in succession. It’s a good opportunity, so let’s unravel the climax and approach the position of this work.

This is an overview of MOUNTAIN’s activities from the start of the band to the end of 1970. It is generally said that MOUNTAIN debuted in July 1969, but this only means that they started in earnest, including Pappalardi. MOUNTAIN’s live activities, which began with West’s solo album, began in February. In September, they solidified their golden lineup and produced “CLIMBING!” and “NANTUCKET SLEIGHRIDE” in parallel with their fierce live activities. “NANTUCKET SLEIGHRIDE” was released in 1971, but both albums were already completed at the time of this work.
Speaking of “The Fillmore in 1970”, it was also an official bootleg, but this work is completely different … or rather, the live itself is different. Both are “North America # 5”, but while the official version was “December 28th”, this work was recorded three days later on New Year’s Eve.
The show itself is different, but in fact the sound is way beyond the official one. This work is the best master supervised by overseas researchers, but the “official” mentioned here does not mean the official bootleg “FILLMORE EAST, NEW YORK, NY, 28 DECEMBER 1970” from three days ago. It sounds better than the highly praised excavation board “LIVE AT WOODSTOCK”… or rather, it even surpasses the traditional masterpiece “LIVE: THE ROAD GOES EVER ON”! It’s amazing how so many official bootlegs have been unearthed, yet so many records have been overlooked… The history of sound sources is ironic.
The show depicted on such a transcendental soundboard is also transcendental. Despite being about 100 minutes long, the set and performance are not only not long, but also have a strong sense of being “packed”. Let’s check out the set here.
●Mountain (8 songs)
・Climbing to Victory: Never in My Life/Mississippi Queen/Silver Paper/For Yasgur’s Farm
・Nantucket Sleighride: Don’t Look Around (★★)/The Animal Trainer and the Toad/Nantucket Sleighride (To Owen Coffin)/Travellin’ in the Dark
●Others (5 songs)
・1st Solo: Baby, I’m Down (★★)/Long Red (★)/Blood of the Sun (★)/Dreams of Milk & Honey
・Others: Auld lang syne (★★)
*Note: The “★” mark indicates songs that were not included in the official “FILLMORE EAST, NEW YORK 28 DECEMBER 1970.” In particular, the “★★” mark indicates songs that were not included in “CANADIAN FESTIVAL EXPRESS 1970” or “OLYMPIC AUDITORIUM, LOS ANGELES, CA 1970.”
…And so it goes like this. Not only West’s first solo and “CLIMBING!”, but also plenty of repertoire from “NANTUCKET SLEIGHRIDE” which was already completed and waiting to be released. Although “Theme for an Imaginary Western” is not included, MOUNTAIN’s golden age is packed into one stage. Among them, the most precious one is “Auld lang syne” played at the end. It is the so-called “firefly light”, and West plays it with emotion, and the work closes with the words “Happy new year!!”. It is an extremely rare song that was only recorded on New Year’s Eve 1970.
Felix Pappalardi inherited the revolution of CREAM, and Leslie West’s tears opened the eyes of Michael Schenker and Randy Rhoads in MOUNTAIN. This is a soundboard album that allows you to enjoy the full show at its peak with superb quality that exceeds the official version. An absolute cultural heritage that permanently preserves the greatest moments in rock history. Please enjoy the Press 2CD, which will never lose its brilliance.
★Stereo soundboard recording of the “Fillmore East performance on December 31, 1970”. This is a different concert three days after the official bootleg, and the sound of this work is better…or rather, it is a superb soundboard that surpasses even the traditional masterpiece “LIVE: THE ROAD GOES EVER ON”. It is about 100 minutes long, and at the same time, the set that condenses West’s 1st solo, “CLIMBING!”, and “NANTUCKET SLEIGHRIDE” into one show is also special. It is an absolute cultural heritage album in rock history, where you can enjoy “Auld lang syne (firefly light)” only on this day.
