Description
★This is… truly amazing. A historic release.
☆LED ZEPPELIN’s historic debut album, bearing their band name, exists on various vinyl pressings, including the famous UK blue turquoise vinyl, but this time we’re introducing an ultra-explosive pressing that reigns supreme in terms of sound quality! “Is the record sound mellow?” No, this sound is truly stunning. Enjoy the power of the “Hot Cut” that surpasses even the UK blue turquoise vinyl!
The film “Led Zeppelin: Becoming” finally made its release, describing ZEP’s first album as a proud first step. The UK blue turquoise logo is a hallmark of this work, but with the current popularity of vinyl, it’s becoming an item that is reaching sky-high prices. This mega-rare LP has been meticulously reissued on CD, and the best-selling “LED ZEPPELIN UK LP (Atlantic 588171 Turquoise Lettering)” remains a bestseller today. This album was highly praised by enthusiasts for capturing the natural sound of the original LP, something that cannot be experienced with current remasters. In fact, it has become so popular that some people wonder if there’s any other first CD release that would satisfy them apart from the current remasters.
However, among the First Press releases was another surprising LP! Among the First Press releases reissued in the US in 1972, when Zep’s popularity was already exploding, was a new LP re-cut by George Piros from the analog master tapes and pressed at Atlantic Records’ main plant, Presswell, with a “C” on both sides.
This was then re-cut and re-produced, and the final pressing was what would be called an “ultra-loud cut” of vinyl, overwhelming the first edition. As a result, this mega-rare pressing is highly regarded among LP enthusiasts as a truly exceptional pressing, surpassing even the UK Blue Turquoise version in the history of ZEP’s first album, offering a truly loud sound! It’s no surprise that the loud sound explodes from the opening track, “Good Times Bad Times,” and even “Communication Breakdown” is a masterpiece. Even “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” is simply overwhelming with its loud, raw sound—the difference is all too clear. While the current remaster’s rugged yet refined finish is certainly appealing to everyone, this is the perfect way to experience the raw energy of a debut album, as touched upon in the film. Indeed, the loud and vivid sound of this album, which is why it is called “Hot Cut” among enthusiasts, is a sound that is on a completely different level not only compared to the current version but also to the UK Blue Turquoise version!
Not only that, this album also contains the unusual phenomenon of being pressed with the left and right reversed during cutting. So Bonzo’s hi-hat in the intro to “Good Times Bad Times” sounds from the left, and Johnsy’s organ on “You Shook Me” sounds from the right. This suddenly loud and powerful sound, combined with the left and right reversed effect, makes it seem like a slightly different mix. Naturally, the difference is very clear even with headphones.
While this album has a strong impression of a hard sound, there are also many delicate parts like “Babe I’m Gonna Leave You” and “Your Time Is Gonna Come.” Furthermore, there are quiet parts even when the playing is intense, such as “Dazed And Confused” and “I Can’t Quit You Baby,” which makes it surprisingly difficult to transfer cleanly.
This is even more difficult with a loud LP like this one, but once again, we’ve captured it in such a clear state that you’ll almost forget it was originally an LP. Be blown away by the literally “hot” and raw sound, completely free of scratch noise. This is an amazing CD!
