This live performance in Houston on September 23, 1986, was recorded with a superb soundboard quality and remastered by the Hannibal label. This
previously unreleased live recording was recorded the same year as the release of the live album “Last Nite” (mentioned in the MC section). This was a period when Carlton had switched from Warner to MCA and was embracing an acoustic sound. The setlist makes it clear that this is a passionate performance that could be described as the “culmination of the fusion Carlton era.” It certainly doesn’t disappoint! They’re rocking out! At the peak of their career, Carlton’s performance blends explosive energy with maturity, making it one of their best.
While the sound image is a little unstable at the beginning of “Nite Crawler,” the rest of the album offers the exceptional sound quality you expect from the Hannibal label.
