Description

Live at Metro Center, Rockford, IL, USA, December 31, 1982.

The Vinnie Vincent era is a hugely popular album in our KISS soundboard collection. This masterpiece has evolved into a complete full show! It will be released as a permanent preservation press 2CD!!

This work is engraved with the “Dec. 31, 1982 Rockford Performance.” It is an ultra-powerful stereo soundboard recording. Four years after the excavation of the previous album “Zodiac 530,” which surprised and delighted collectors around the world, this is an expanded edition that is about 2 minutes and 40 seconds longer, and it is a complete live album that includes the ending of “Detroit Rock City,” which was previously interrupted.

The soundboards from the Vinnie era are a highlight of our KISS collection. This is a good opportunity, so let’s take a look at the lineup.

[Impact soundboard immediately after Vinnie joined]
This is the complete 9-title soundboard collection from the Vinnie era. Among them, this work is one of the earliest, just the third performance after joining. It was also a sister soundboard album that was simultaneously excavated with the previous day’s masterpiece “SIOUX CITY 1982 SOUNDBOARD.”

The sound is incredibly direct, like an amplifier embedded in your skull. Discovered through our own insider channels, it’s clearly a stereo soundboard recorded directly from the mix desk, without any treatment like official live performances or FM broadcasts. The raw, unprocessed sound of the performance, intended to be spit out from the PA system, flows right in. There’s no room for concert space reproduction or production, but that’s what makes it irresistible for the most discerning soundboard enthusiasts. Vinnie’s rampaging guitar, Gene’s earth-shattering bass, and Paul’s hype are all untouched. It’s a sense of synchronization that’s simply impossible to experience on an official release.

[A true, definitive edition that has evolved into a complete full show]
While this was such a shocking soundboard master, the only drawback was its incomplete recording. The final tracks, “Rock and Roll All Nite” and “Detroit Rock City,” were not recorded. Perhaps due to concerns from insiders, these were supplemented with audience recordings on the same day, but still insufficient. The second half of “Detroit Rock City” was missing.

This time, we’ve independently supplemented that part. It’s approximately 2 minutes and 40 seconds longer than before, and “Detroit Rock City” is played all the way to the finale. Even Paul’s finishing shout of “We love you!” is captured in this authentic, complete full show.

[The rare track “Rock and Roll Hell” is also included in the full set.]
The complete set is the highlight of this release. After all, this show was only the third performance after Vinnie joined the band. Even the classic tracks from “CREATURES OF THE NIGHT” hadn’t been decided yet, and they performed some extremely rare songs that would have been dropped from the set immediately. The performance was also full of excitement from the start. Let’s summarize the content here.

●CREATURES OF THE NIGHT (5 songs)
・Creatures of the Night / I Love It Loud / War Machine / Rock And Roll Hell (★) / I Still Love You
●70s Classics (11 songs)
・KISS: Strutter / Firehouse / Cold Gin / Black Diamond
・DESTROYER: Shout It Out Loud / God Of Thunder / Detroit Rock City (**)
・Other: Rock And Roll All Nite (*) / Calling Dr. Love / I Want You / Love Gun
*Note: “★” indicates an ultra-rare song that was only available at the beginning of the tour. “*” indicates a song that was completed with an audience recording. In particular, “**” indicates a song with a longer recording time.

…And so on. The biggest attraction is “Rock and Roll Hell.” It was only performed at the first three shows of the tour, and then it was sealed for 34 years (and even when it was revived in 2016, it was only played a few times at KISS Kruise). Of course, nothing can replace the thrill of having the energy of “80s potential + Vinnie” flow into your brain.

This superb soundboard album, which shook the world with its debut in 2022, has been resurrected as a complete full-show edition. This 2-CD press features a permanently preserved soundboard directly connected to the mix desk from New Year’s Eve 1982, just three shows after Vinnie Vincent joined the band. Enjoy to your heart’s content.
