Camp Curtis Guild Armory, Reading, MA, USA 15th November 1976 TRULY PERFECT SOUND(from Original Masters)
★UPGRADE & LONGER!!!
KISS was at the height of their powers in 1976, releasing one historic album after another. This newly unearthed album lets you experience the tour rehearsals of that band.
This work permanently preserves “November 15, 1976 Reading.” It is a rehearsal album recorded at an Army National Guard camp. Speaking of 1976, three tours, “ALIVE! Tour,” “DESTROYER Tour,” and “ROCK & ROLL OVER Tour,” were held in parallel, and rehearsals were also held for each. What is the position of this work in that context? First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of the activities including rehearsals.

[New master doubles the Aucoin reel]
This is KISS from 1976. Rehearsals for the “ROCK & ROLL OVER Tour” took place in New York for six days and Reading for seven days, and the recordings are also familiar from the press masterpiece “NEW YORK REHEARSALS 1976 (Zodiac 249).” That press masterpiece included both the New York rehearsal “November 11th” and the Reading rehearsal “November 15th,” but this work is an upgraded master of the latter. It is a top-notch updated edition with incomparable sound and length.

This is a new master discovered through a familiar source in our shop, but the length is completely different. “NEW YORK REHEARSALS 1976” was about 29 minutes (10 songs), but this work is about twice as long at 56 minutes. Let’s compare and organize it here so you can get a feel for the volume of the songs.
●KISS (5 songs)
Strutter/Firehouse/Cold Gin (2 takes)/Deuce (★)/Black Diamond (★)
●ROCK AND ROLL OVER (4 songs)
Take Me/Ladies Room/Hard Luck Woman/Makin’ Love
●Other (5 songs)
DESTROYER: Detroit Rock City/Do You Love Me/God Of Thunder (★)
Other: Let Me Go, Rock And Roll/Rock And Roll All Nite (★)
*Note: Songs marked with “★” are songs that could not be heard on the Aucoin Masters pressing of the classic album “NEW YORK REHEARSALS 1976.”

… and it looks like this. The simple increase alone is considerable, but the flow it creates is also important. The first half of the rehearsal was recorded in “NEW YORK REHEARSALS 1976,” and this work also includes the second half. In fact, it turns out that this rehearsal was a run-through of the actual performance style.
[High-end updated sound with powerful deep bass]
And even more importantly, the sound that permeates the entire album is simply superb. The “New York Rehearsals 1976” version was also based on a reel master owned by the band’s original manager, Bill Aucoin, but this new master is even better. While the clarity is on par with the Aucoin reel “New York Rehearsals 1976,” this release is even heavier and denser. The bass is particularly powerful, with every detail beautifully preserved, delivering a powerful impact that kicks you right in the gut and shakes your every last fiber. The “New York Rehearsals 1976” version, which I once found so beautiful, now sounds thin and flimsy after experiencing this release.
With a recording time and sound that surpasses even the supposedly ultimate Aucoin-Reese, this is a stunning new master recording that allows you to enjoy a run-through rehearsal of KISS’s golden era. This album offers not only the hidden pleasure of peeking behind the scenes, but also a masterful studio live album. Enjoy it anytime, anywhere on this press CD, which will never lose its luster.
★This rehearsal album was recorded in Reading on November 15, 1976. This is a greatly expanded and updated version of the recordings, some of which were also included on the classic press album “NEW YORK REHEARSALS 1976 (Zodiac 249).” Not only has it nearly doubled in length to 56 minutes, but it also boasts a powerful sound with plenty of density, even down to the deep bass. This is a live studio album that lets you enjoy run-through rehearsals from the “ROCK & ROLL OVER Tour.”
