★UPGRADE!!!

The “CRAZY NIGHTS Tour” completed the no-makeup KISS style arena rock. An upgraded master has appeared on the iconic soundboard. It will be released on a permanent preservation press CD!

This work includes the “August 27, 1988 Schweinfurt Performance.” It is a stereo soundboard recording recorded at the German performance of “MONSTERS OF ROCK,” which evolved into a huge festival tour. Speaking of the “CRAZY NIGHTS Tour,” not only was the first visit to Japan of no-makeup KISS realized, but also the mass production period of masterpieces that produced soundboards and pro shots from all over the world. Let’s start by organizing the collection and taking a bird’s-eye view of the activities at that time.

This is KISS in 1987/1988. The highlight, “MONSTERS OF ROCK,” took place on the final “European” leg. However, not all performances were MOR, and our press masterpiece “DEFINITIVE STOCKHOLM 1988 (Zodiac 354)” was a regular solo concert. Let’s focus on the schedule further, including the situation around that.

■Details of the “European” leg
・August 16th: Marquee Club performance
*August 20th “MONSTERS OF ROCK 1988 DONINGTON”
*August 27th: Schweinfurt performance ←★This work★
・August 28th – September 16th (MOR 3 performances + regular 5 performances)
*September 17th “DEFINITIVE STOCKHOLM 1988”
・September 19th – October 3rd (11 performances)

[The highest peak soundboard master unearthed through a unique route
] … and so on. MOR was a total of five times, the others were regular concerts. The Schweinfurt performance of this work was the stage next to the holy land Donington. This show is also known for the pro shots left behind, and our shop is also very popular with “MONSTERS OF ROCK GERMANY 1988 UPGRADE (Shades 1920)”. This work is not a sound drop… Our shop has excavated various soundboards from its own related route, but this work is a new master of the soundboard brought from that route.

The sound is super real and super thick, directly connected to the mix desk. The pro-shot audio was also directly connected, so the mix itself may have sounded different, but anyway, the raw, unprocessed, unedited sound of the performance blew out, and when you listen to it with headphones, it’s as if your brain is being dug deep with a chisel. The contours of each individual note of each instrument are incredibly clear, and the sense of separation is otherworldly. The balance is such that the cheers can be heard from the neighboring building, so you can’t expect to experience the venue, but that’s why the pleasure of having your whole body completely in sync with the live performance is so great.

[A new masterpiece that compensates for the three missing songs and updates the longest]
It’s a very powerful soundboard master, but it wasn’t perfect. It’s an incomplete recording. Therefore, this work has been supplemented with another soundboard, updating the previous longest record. Let’s check here which songs are supplemented.

●70s (5 songs + 4 songs)
・KISS: Deuce / Cold Gin / Black Diamond / Firehouse (★★) / Strutter (★★)
・Others: Love Gun / Shout It Out Loud / Rock And Roll All Nite / Detroit Rock City
●80s (6 songs)
・CRAZY NIGHTS: No, No, No (*) / Crazy Crazy Nights
・Others: Fits Like A Glove (*) / Heaven’s On Fire / Tears Are Falling / I Love It Loud (★)
*Note: Songs marked with an “*” are exclusive to the no-makeup era. Songs marked with an “★” are songs that were supplemented with a different soundboard. In particular, “★★” are songs that were not included in the leaked pro shots of the same day.

Three additional songs have been added: “I Love It Loud” features a pro-shot soundboard audio from the same day, while “Firehouse” and “Strutter,” which do not have soundboards, are supplemented with the soundboard from the previous Donington performance. Although it is a separate recording, the sound quality and character of the Donington recording are very similar to the Schweinfurt recording, and further elaborate mastering was also carried out for connection. The Donington recording differs in that cheers are also recorded, but there is no sense of incongruity in the performance sounds and vocals of the staff members.

The “CRAZY NIGHTS Tour” was a worldwide hit, boasting its heyday even in the no-makeup era. This is a superb soundboard album that imprints the live performance in your mind. Based on the best master unearthed through a unique route, this new masterpiece also compensates for the three missing songs. Please enjoy it to the fullest with a press CD that will never lose its brilliance.

★August 27, 1988: Stereo soundboard recording of the German version of MONSTERS OF ROCK performance. A new master unearthed through a unique insider route, this is a super-realistic and ultra-thick mix directly connected to the mix table. The raw, unprocessed, unedited sound of the performance erupts, and listening with headphones feels like a chisel is digging deep into your brain. The missing “I Love It Loud” is the longest recording, supplemented with the same-day pro-shot audio, while “Firehouse” and “Strutter” are the longest recordings, supplemented with the soundboard from the previous Donington performance.

KISS – MONSTERS OF ROCK GERMANY 1988 UPGRADE(Bonus DVDR)
Mainwiesen, Schweinfurt, Germany 27th August 1988 PRO-SHOT

The main press CD is a definitive edition that expands and supplements the best master of the sound board brought by its own route. As mentioned in the commentary, this show is also famous for the pro shots that were left behind. Therefore, a special bonus was decided so that you can collect the live album and the best master of the video version at once.

This work was filmed at the same “MONSTERS OF ROCK” performance on August 27, 1988 as the main press CD. It is a multi-camera pro shot. It has long been a famous pro shot on TV, but this work is the highest peak master. It was excavated through the same unique route as the main press CD, and the time counter is also a vivid outflow master.

The biggest point is the video quality. All of the previous releases were originally TV broadcasts. Although there were differences in the genera and the state of the master, they were still within the scope of air checks. However, this work goes beyond that category. As mentioned above, it is a master that requires work, including a time counter, but even without the counter, the beauty of the video screams, “This isn’t a broadcast!” The clear and precise image quality down to the finest details has clearly never been transmitted via radio waves, and there are no dubbing marks. It is truly master quality itself.

Such a transcendent upgrade quality depicts a highlight stage overflowing with the charm of the no-makeup era. Although it has two songs less than the main press CD, you can still enjoy “Deuce” and “Tears Are Falling”, which cannot be heard on the masterpiece pro shot “A CRAZY NIGHT WITH KISS: BUDOKAN 1988 (Zodiac 704)” of the Japanese performance.

And just as important as the repertoire are the faces and glamorous staging. While many heroes have come and gone in KISS’ history, only three lineups could be called stable periods: the original Frehley/Chris era of the ’70s, the Thayer/Singer era at the end, and the Kulick/Carr era, which represents the no-makeup period in between. This work is a treasure that allows you to enjoy the full show of these four makeup-free members in the brightness and master quality of daylight.

This is the appearance of the no-makeup era, which involved not only North America, the main battlefield, but also Europe. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content along with the main press CD of the extended sound board album.
