Description
The hugely popular KISS treasure video series “KISSTORY” finally dives into the era of KISS’s most controversial album, “MUSIC FROM “THE ELDER””!
This series is what you might call the hidden history of KISS. It’s a compilation of rare footage, including unknown TV appearances, forgotten commercials, rare interviews, and film footage, all compiled by the best masters. While eight previous releases have been archived, spanning the band’s golden age in the ’70s to the “Unmasked” era, this latest release finally delves into the most unorthodox period in KISS’ history. Let’s start with the usual series list.
VOLUME 1: 1974-1976 (Until the Destroyer era)
VOLUME 2: 1976 (Until the Rock and Roll Over era)
VOLUME 3: 1977/1978 (Until the solo era)
VOLUME 4: 1979 (Dynasty era part 1)
VOLUME 5: 1979 (Dynasty era part 2)
VOLUME 6: 1980 (Unmasked era part 1)
VOLUME 7: 1980 (Unmasked era part 2)
VOLUME 8: 1980 (Unmasked era part 3)
*VOLUME 9: 1981/1982 (The Elder era) ←★This album★
As you can see, the “UNMASKED” era was a three-volume epic, but this release marks the beginning of a new chapter: “MUSIC FROM “THE ELDER”.” The concept album “MUSIC FROM “THE ELDER”” was a bold challenge that overturned KISS’s image, but it was a heretical era with poor commercial success and no tours. However, just because there were no tours doesn’t mean there wasn’t footage. Promotional activities were vigorous, leaving behind a wealth of valuable records, including TV appearances, music videos, and interviews. This release is the definitive compilation of the “THE ELDER” era, spanning approximately 167 minutes and compiled entirely from master sources.
●DISC 1: Chapter 1-2 “Symbolic footage from the album release (2 types)”
This work starts with two videos announcing the album release. First, there is the music video for the first single, “A World Without Heroes,” which could be said to be the face of “THE ELDER,” and the TV commercial announcing the release. In particular, the music video was recorded from the master source, and is the highest quality version in terms of image quality and color reproduction.
●DISC 1: Chapter 3-4 “Mexican Program from September 27, 1981 (2 Types)”
continues with the legendary TV program that forms the core of DISC 1. This is the Mexican TV program “Aplausos Video taped,” which appeared before the album’s release. This hour-long special includes interviews and also features performances of “I Was Made For Lovin’ You” and “Charisma (the only video of this kind in history!).” While both songs are from “DYNASTY,” the highlight is the costumes. The “THE ELDER” era also featured unique costumes, and this program was the first time they were unveiled. While these have been available for many years with severely deteriorated quality, this release is recorded in two high-quality master sources.
●DISC 1: Chapter 5 “Superb Master of 2nd Single ‘I'”
PV of the 2nd single “I”. Recorded from the 2-inch Aucoin master.
●DISC 1: Chapter 6-9 “TV Specials Broadcast in December (4 Types)
” “Entertainment Tonight” and “Solid Gold” broadcast on “December 7, 1981”, and “America’s Top 10 (Part 1/2)” broadcast on the following “December 8″. All are recorded from the master.
”Solid Gold” will be presented by Andy Gibb and will feature KISS performing their new song “I” in the studio, as well as the music video for “A World Without Heroes” and a KISS sketch.
●DISC 1: Chapter 10 “Unreleased version of ‘I'”
At the end of DISC 1 is a long-lost version of “I,” which was filmed. This is a hidden treasure provided by a high-end KISS collector who purchased the 2-inch master tape.

Disc 2: Chapters 1-5, “TV Programs Featuring Live Performances from the Time (Two Types),”
replace Disc 2, a collection of footage from 1982. First up is “Fridays,” which aired on January 15, 1982, and the charity program “United Cerebral Palsy Telethon” aired the following day, January 16.
The must-see is the former “Fridays,” an edited version of which was included in the official “KISSOLOGY VOLUME 2,” but this work includes the entire KISS appearance scene from the master. The highlight is the live performances of “The Oath,” “A World Without Heroes,” and “I.” This is the only live performance from the “THE ELDER” era, when no tour took place.
●DISC 2: Chapter 6-7 “Satellite appearance at the Sanremo Music Festival (2 types)”
Next comes their appearance at the Italian music festival “San Remo Music Festival” held 12 days later on “January 28, 1982.” KISS did not go to Italy, but instead performed “I” via satellite broadcast from Studio 54 in New York. In addition to the “Entertainment Tonight” report, this work also includes an unedited version of the “I” performance in its entirety, recorded from the master.
●DISC 2: Chapters 8-10 “Legendary Interview Programs (3 Types)”
Also included is the “Flo and Eddie Show” from two months later, on March 27, 1982. This legendary interview features Paul and Gene dressed in their “The Elder” costumes, and also includes photos from their childhood. In addition to the two broadcast versions, the full unedited interview from the master tapes is also included.
■DISC 2: Chapter 11 “Best Album TV Commercial”
The era of “THE ELDER” came to an end with the release of the best album “KILLERS.” The final footage in this work, which chronicles a singular point in history, is the extremely rare TV commercial.
