Description
”KISSTORY VOLUME ONE / VOLUME TWO” was a collection of footage from “1974-1976,” but this third installment covers “1977/1978.” It’s a three-disc set that compiles treasured footage from the “ROCK & ROLL OVER Tour” to solo albums. Let’s take a look at each one individually.
●DISC 1: Chapter 1-7 “ROCK & ROLL OVER Tour TV Programs (3 Types)”
First up are three TV videos from the “ROCK & ROLL OVER Tour” era. The opening “January 22, 1977 Chicago Performance” is footage taken at the 36th performance of the tour, recorded from the local station WBBM-TV master with a vivid time counter. Black fans also appear, and the footage gives a real feel for the time.
The following “January 27, 1977 Detroit Performance” and “February 10, 1977″ People’s Choice Awards” were also recorded in the press masterpiece “DETROIT 1977 3RD NIGHT MASTER VIDEO (Zodiac 748)”, but the “KISSTORY” series also re-recorded the TV material so that you can enjoy it perfectly.
●DISC 1: Chapter 8 “February 16, 1977 Hartford Performance”
8mm film shot during the second half of the “ROCK & ROLL OVER Tour” (51st performance out of 70 performances). This is a very beautiful and valuable video with excellent sound.
●DISC 1: Chapter 9 “LOVE GUN TV Commercial”
This is where the “LOVE GUN” era begins. First up is the album’s first TV commercial.
●DISC 1: Chapter 10 “8mm Film (4 types) from July 24th to August 13th, 1977” –
Powerful 8mm film by the same archivist. Filmed at four performances: July 24th, 1977 in Vancouver, August 11th in Spokane, August 12th in Seattle, and August 13th in Portland, these masterpieces were digitized from master reels. This ultra-historical footage is full of impact, including close-ups of professional shots and extremely rare scenes of the band entering the venue.

■DISC 2: Chapters 1-4 “Don Kirschner’s Rock Concert”
DISC 2 starts with the legendary TV show “Don Kirschner’s Rock Concert.” It features three tracks from the May 28, 1977, appearance on which “LOVE GUN” was completed: “I Want You,” “Love ‘Em And Leave ‘Em,” and “Hard Luck Woman.” This is also a different master recording from the official “KISSOLOGY” version, leaked from a related source. Instead of Don Kirschner’s narration, it’s recorded from a working countdown scene. It’s also included on the classic press release “MADISON SQUARE GARDEN FEBRUARY 1977,” but while that version was digitized from the master reel, this is the TV broadcast version with a different color grading.
■DISC 2: Chapter 5-6 “LOVE GUN Tour TV Programs (2 Types)”
Two TV programs that appeared during the “LOVE GUN Tour.” “August 16, 1977 “The Nightbird”” features an interview of KISS enjoying lunch without makeup, while also playing “Rock And Roll All Nite” from their first visit to Japan (it seems that the reason their bare faces aren’t shown was the 70s).
The second, “August 1977’s ‘Land Of Hype & Glory’,” includes the famous interview as well as the TV master footage of the LA Forum performance. Unlike the version recorded on “KISSOLOGY,” it is the complete version of the KISS part.
■DISC 2: Chapters 7-8 “LOVE GUN Tour” Footage (2 types) –
8mm footage shot at the legendary “August 24, 1977 LA Forum Concert.” Transferred from the master reel provided by LA archivist Richard Lenga, it’s stunningly beautiful. Unfortunately, it’s a silent film, and this release is silent, but it’s a superb piece of footage boasting exceptional visual beauty and historical value.
Next up is the “Fort Worth Performance on September 4, 1977,” the final performance of the “LOVE GUN Tour.” This is a pro shot, some of which was used in the promo film for “ALIVE II,” and of course it comes with audio. While it’s a single camera in the distance, you can enjoy the highlights of “Rock and Roll All Nite,” which begins with a drum solo with fireworks erupting and then rises onto a platform.
■DISC 2: Chapter 9-10 “ALIVE II TV Commercial”
From here on, in the “ALIVE II” era, we start with a TV commercial announcing the release of the album. Two different versions are included, both of which are completely official and are the finest masters.
■DISC 2: Chapters 11-14 “December 14, 1977 MSG Performance”
Four clips of footage from the 18th performance of the “ALIVE II Tour” at Madison Square Garden. Shot on 8mm film by an unknown New York taper, the footage was collected from four reels. While the footage is shot from a distance, it offers stunning quality far exceeding VHS standards, and the audio has been transcribed from the master tape.
■DISC 2: Chapter 15-16 “KISS RADIO / Figure TV Commercial”
A commercial for a KISS brand radio (one type) and an unreleased Mego doll (two types with different hairstyles). A low-quality version was included in “KISS MY ASS THE VIDEO,” but this is the master tape version.
■DISC 2: Chapter 17 “ALIVE II Promo Film”
The last part of DISC 2 is the promo film for “ALIVE II.” It is also familiar as a bonus video for the press masterpiece “LARGO 1977,” but this is the highest quality 4K transfer version.

◆DISC 3: Chapter 1-3 “American Music Awards, January 18, 1978”
The year has just changed. This is the TV broadcast of the “American Music Awards,” which was won about a year after the “People’s Choice Awards.” You can enjoy watching how the band made inroads into the world of mainstream entertainment and quickly gained acceptance.
DISC 3: Chapter 4-5 “DOUBLE PLATINUM/Solo Album Commercials”
This is where the solo album era begins. These are TV commercials for the best-of album “DOUBLE PLATINUM” and solo albums. Unlike the low-quality version on “KISS MY ASS THE VIDEO,” this is a different version from the master version.
◆DISC 3: Chapters 6-11 “Solo Album Interviews (3 Types)”
The first two are interviews with Gene. “November 17, 1978 ‘The Entertainment Page'” features Gene without makeup and with his face hidden. The following “November 27, 1978 ‘The Toni Tennile'” is a pilot episode filmed for TV broadcast, but is a phantom interview that never aired. It is recorded directly from the TV master version.
The third, “December 3, 1978 “News 4″,” is a TV program in which Paul appeared. He answers the interview in a unique costume that he never wore on stage.
DISC 3: Chapter 12 “Makeup Kit TV Commercial”
This TV commercial for the “KISS YOUR FACE MAKE UP” makeup kit lets you reply to KISS. This can also be seen on “KISS MY ASS THE VIDEO,” but this version is recorded from the master version.
DISC 3: Chapter 13 “Gene’s In-Store Performance”
The finale of this big three-disc set is an in-store event featuring Gene Simmons. This mysterious footage, with an unknown shooting date and location, is included in this release in the highest quality master recording.
This epic masterpiece features 28 treasured videos spanning 3 hours and 29 minutes. This three-disc set covers the most dazzling years of KISS’s 1977/1978, a period in the KISS video history series of the 1970s, all presented by top-notch, updated masters provided by researchers. Combine it with “KISSTORY VOLUME ONE/VOLUME TWO” to turn your collection shelf into a treasure trove of KISS’s golden age.
