Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 31st January 1995 STEREO SBD(from Original Masters)
★UPGRADE!!!The perfect edition!
The legendary sound board, said to be “the best sound in KISS history,” has been newly excavated as an upgraded master! It has been decided to release a press 2CD that will permanently preserve the longest/highest peak update sound, which is different from the pro shot sound!
This work is engraved with the performance of “January 31, 1995: Nippon Budokan”. It is a super-class stereo soundboard recording. At that time, KISS was not “REVENGE Tour” but “KISS MY ASS Tour”. This tour also includes the South American soundboard trilogy, including “SANTIAGO 1994 PRE-FM MASTER (Zodiac 720)”. First, let’s take a look at the schedule of the activities at that time and check the relative positions of each.

[Newly excavated master that updates the longest/highest peak]
This is the overall picture of the “KISS MY ASS Tour”, which was the final period of the no-makeup KISS. This was the second time they came to Japan without makeup, following 1988, and they performed two consecutive nights at the Nippon Budokan. This work was the concert on the final day.
This show is also famous for the superb sound board and pro shots that were left behind. For sound boards, “ALIVE III 1/2” is famous, and for pro shots, our press masterpiece “BUDOKAN 1995 2ND NIGHT” is a big hit. This work is not such a previously released sound drop.
Although it is the same show, it is a newly discovered master brought by our own related route. Moreover, it is not just new, but also updates the longest / highest quality.
First of all, it is the longest ever. Depending on the master, both the sound board version and the pro shot version were about 110 minutes long. This work is about 2 minutes longer than that. However, what is more important than that is the sound itself that runs through the whole work. This is already outrageous. As usual, it was recorded directly from the on-site mix desk, and it is a raw type that is unprocessed and unedited, but its freshness is different. The contours that were originally clear stand out even more clearly, and the silent part is filled with jet black darkness. There is almost no noise such as hiss or hum, and there is no need to earn sound pressure with mastering, and the power is increased by just fineness.
[A completely different stereo experience from the Pro Shot version]
Another important point is the stereo feeling. It is clearly a balance for the venue PA, and the stereo feeling is blown left and right with a tremendous swing. In fact, although the sound of the pro shot version was also stereo, the balance that tends to be concentrated in the center was so good that it could be mistaken for mono. However, in this work, the performance rotates with a guingin. In particular, the tom rotation is so bold that it stirs the brain, and even in parts without any production, the separation of each instrument is vivid, and each sound is as wide as possible.
To be honest, the balance is too raw to be called “official grade” because it is not designed for home audio playback, but on the other hand, it has a dynamism that is impossible with official products. On days when you listen to it with headphones, you can experience a sense of synchronization that is so different that it can make you feel drunk even without alcohol.
Such a different dimensional sound is drawn in a full show in Japan that is different from the “South American” soundboards. Here, let’s organize the set by comparing it with the South American trilogy and the representative soundboard masterpiece “CLEVELAND 1992” of “REVENGE Tour”.
●70’s Classics (13 songs)
・KISS: Deuce/Firehouse/Black Diamond (*)
・HOTTER THAN HELL: Parasite/Watchin’ You/She (★*)

[A huge bonus with an extremely rare official soundboard]
Even after the full show is over, this work is not over yet. The new master is recorded after the show, and there is also an in-house announcement with a sense of the era. Other artists being promoted also have a strong “1995” smell, so let’s write it out here.
“With this, today’s concert has come to an end. As you can see, the area near the exit is very narrow. Please proceed slowly toward the exit without pushing against each other.”
“Now, we would like to inform our customers. We are currently selling special concert tickets at the west exit ticket counter on the first floor and in front of the southwest entrance on the second floor for an additional performance by Elton John, who, together with Billy Joel, has sold out all of his baseball stadium shows across the US and will be performing in Japan for the first time in 21 years at this venue next month. Please do take advantage of this opportunity.”
“We also have tickets available for other acts such as QUEENSRYCHE, DOKKEN, PEARL JAM, SLAYER, and more. Be sure to get your good seats early.”
Furthermore, this work is a precious bonus track. This is “Strutter” recorded at the sound check of “October 30: Nippon Budokan” the day before the main story. In fact, this is a genuine official soundboard. It was a charity sound source for the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake that occurred in January 1995, and only those who donated by phone could hear it. It is a completely official best master by the same route as the main story and is permanently preserved.
The transcendent sound board, once called “the best sound of all bootlegs,” has reached new heights. This is the longest/highest peak update of such a shock. A newly excavated master that is more vivid and longer than the conventional master, and much more dynamic than the pro shot version. Please enjoy it anytime and forever with the Press 2CD that will never lose its shine!
★Superb stereo soundboard recording of the “January 31, 1995: Nippon Budokan” performance. A newly excavated master that has updated the longest and highest peak ever with a soundboard directly connected to the mix desk, which is different from the pro shot version. The contours of each sound are also vivid, and the stereo feeling of panning with a fierce width is also intense. This is a major decision board that also includes a bonus of “Strutter”, the sound check released the day before for the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake charity.
