Description
Pine Knob Music Theatre, Clarkston, MI, USA 12th September 2000
The “KISS FAREWELL Tour,” the final tour featuring the original four members. A newly discovered, upgraded master of that masterpiece pro-shot footage has been released.
This release contains two top-of-the-line, newly mastered recordings. DISC 1 features multi-camera pro-shot footage of the “Clarkston concert on September 12, 2000,” while DISC 2 is a VH1 special program focusing on the “Phoenix concert on March 11, 2000.” The “KISS FAREWELL Tour” was completed with Peter Criss leaving midway and being replaced by Eric Singer. As you know, KISS later reversed their retirement and continued, but the original four members never reunited. Given this history, what is the position of this release? Let’s start by looking at the schedule at the time.
● January 3, 2000 : Anchorage concert
“KISS FAREWELL Tour”
March 11 – May 26: North America #1 (53 shows) ←★DISC 2★
June 6 – August 2: North America #2 (35 shows) ←※NEW JERSEY 2000
August 11 – October 7: North America #3 (39 shows) ←★DISC 1★
● 2001
(January: Peter leaves → Eric returns)
March 9 – 22: Japan (7 shows)
March 29 – April 13: Australia (8 shows)
This is KISS in 2000/2001. Throughout 2000, they carpet-bombed their main battleground, “North America,” and in 2001, after a change in members, they toured Japan and Australia. The Clarkston concert, the main focus of this release (DISC 1), was the 23rd show of “North America #3,” while the Phoenix concert on DISC 2 was the opening night of “North America #1.” Now, let’s introduce each of them individually.
[DISC 1: Supernaturally Revived Clarkston Footage]
First up is the professional shot of the Clarkston performance, the main focus of this release. While this footage has been known before, this release features a new master that (significantly) surpasses its previous highest quality. We have introduced many professional shot masters through our own unique network of contacts, and this is the latest in that series.
In fact, the visual beauty is an upgrade so significant that it’s immediately apparent it’s a completely different product. While some songs, such as “Shout It Out Loud,” are incomplete, and the camerawork, which seems to be primarily close-ups intended for live screens, remains unchanged, it’s a stark contrast to the previous washed-out, discolored screen, and is incredibly vibrant. Moreover, the vibrancy isn’t achieved through digital color correction, but rather through the original master’s fidelity, making it truly supernatural.
That freshness extends to the audio as well. It’s a stereo soundboard recording directly connected to the mixing console, but previous masters had a harsh, distorted sound, perhaps due to overdubbing or digital processing. In contrast, this one is truly supernatural. Even the peaks of the drum hits are free of distortion, and it remains beautiful even when everyone is strumming at once.
The visually stunning footage depicts the “KISS FAREWELL Tour” featuring all four original members. While it’s an incomplete recording, just like the previous master, it still offers approximately 67 minutes of enjoyable content. Here, let’s compare it to our store’s masterpiece pro-shot release, “NEW JERSEY 2000: JAPANESE BROADCAST,” to organize the setlist.

[DISC 2: TV Special Reporting on the Opening of the “KISS FAREWELL Tour”]
DISC 2 features a TV special from that time, reporting on the opening of the “KISS FAREWELL Tour.” It’s an inside report from the Phoenix show on the first day of the tour, and the reporter is none other than Ted Nugent! The countdown to showtime is interspersed with backstage interviews, a mini-segment summarizing KISS history, and information on future tour plans. You can really feel the atmosphere of “Today, the final tour begins!”
Then, in the second half of the program, the show finally begins. The moment the four members appear and the three songs, “Detroit Rock City,” “Shout It Out Loud,” and “Heaven’s On Fire,” are captured in multi-camera pro-shot footage. Just like DISC 1, this is also a superb master obtained through an exclusive source, allowing you to enjoy the historic first day in beautiful picture quality with no distortion or dubbing marks.
This is a great value set of two professionally shot recordings of the “KISS FAREWELL Tour,” capturing the final heroic performances of the original four members. These must-have video masterpieces have been supernaturally revived with a new master obtained through our unique source. Please enjoy them to the fullest.
