Description

Yard Stick offers an unofficial CD of an “alternative” version of “Main Offender,” Keith Richards’s second solo album, released in October 1992. It’s a mix of alternate studio takes and concert rehearsals, including versions of classics by the Rolling Stones (“Gimme Shelter”) and Jerry Lee Lewis (“Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On”). Richards co-produced the album with guitarist Waddy Wachtel and drummer Steve Jordan, who were featured on the sessions alongside keyboardist Ivan Neville, multi-instrumentalist Charley Drayton, singers Bernard Fowler, Sarah Dash (LaBelle), and Babi Floyd, and horn players Jack Bashkow, Arno Hecht, and Crispin Cioe (replaced in concert by faithful saxophonist Bobby Keys). The duet version of “Cocaine” with Eric Clapton comes from the Slowhand concert held at the Ritz in New York on November 23, 1986.
