JOY DIVISION – COMPLETE BBC RECORDINGS 1979 (LP)

Description

This unofficial LP on the Room On Fire label features the musical content of the album of the same name, released in 2000 by the Strange Fruit label and later included in the 2008 British edition of the anthology “The Best of Joy Division.” The first four tracks were recorded on January 31, 1979, at the BBC Studios in London’s Maida Vale and initially released in 1986 under the title “The Peel Sessions EP.” The next four tracks, recorded on November 26, 1979, and released in 1987, share the same title and recording location, while the last two songs were recorded for the television program “Something Else,” which aired on September 1, 1979. The setlist includes classics such as “She’s Lost Control” (two versions), “Transmission” (two versions), and “Love Will Tear Us Apart.” Unlike the official album of the time, the final interview with singer Ian Curtis and drummer Stephen Morris is missing.
