Kiefer UNO Lakefront Arena, New Orleans, LA, USA 1 October 1998 STEREO SBD
★UPGRADE!!!

From the now-nostalgic 1998 “WALKING INTO EVERYWHERE WORLD TOUR” by Page & Plant, perfect sound quality stereo soundboard albums such as “SHEPHERDS BUSH 1998 MULTITRACK MASTER” and “LAS VEGAS 1998 : SOUNDBOARD MASTER” have been released, but more than those, in 1998, it was New Orleans on October 1st that was touted as the latest tour radio broadcast.

It’s also nostalgic that many items were produced in real time because the sound quality was perfect with the stereo sound board. It has now been released up to the gray zone CD. Even if it’s not, there must be many enthusiasts who have heard this sound source. That’s how much New Orleans became a standard sound source in 1998.

However, all of these were recorded as air checks of the broadcasts from 1998, and there were no items released on CD from so-called “Pre-FM” sound sources. It is true that since they are radio sound sources from 1998, even though they were air checks, the sound quality was very high. However, this time we are releasing a CD from the original reel of such a classic radio broadcast!

For the reasons mentioned above, high sound quality is the norm in New Orleans, but what was provided this time was a perfect sound quality version from the broadcast master reel. From there, it was further downgraded to CD-R and distributed to each broadcast station, but as expected, it is only the original broadcast reel. Ultra quality that overturns the items released in 1998. The sound quality is at a level that should be released as an official live album. It is far superior to the gray area CDs that are still on the market today.

In addition, the opening and closing announcements from the broadcast reel are all included, and the DJ who made those announcements was JJ Jackson. He was the opening announcer for ZEP’s 1975 concert at the LA Forum, and who knew he would also narrate Page & Plant’s broadcast? Even the parts that shouldn’t have been cut are included, given their historical significance.

Furthermore, since it was recorded from the broadcast reel, it even includes the interview with Page and Plant that was shown at the end of the program. This is a short interview and a trivial conversation, but it can’t be ignored because the two seem to be having fun talking. It is an all the more valuable scene, especially since their 1998 activity ended with Plant’s departure.

And the performance was outstanding. A week ago, “LAS VEGAS 1998: SOUNDBOARD MASTER” had already been recorded, and the performance was extremely hot, but on this day, just before the last of the second American tour in 1998, the performance was finally boiling over on an undisputed stereo sound board.

Although it tends to be overlooked now, unlike 1995 and 1996, when they were trying to create a new sound with the help of an orchestra, this year not only brought with it a completely new studio album, but also a major attraction was that they competed with an unadorned, straight band sound. The fact that this tremendous performance was captured in full detail is due to the stereo sound board.

The final part of the live performance, which begins with Plant introducing it as “psychedelic jazz” and continues through “How Many More Times” and “Whole Lotta Love,” is so intense it almost feels like a suite. Jimmy’s playing is on par with his Zep days, and the power of Michael Lee’s drumming, a key figure behind Page & Plant’s live shows, is also captured in impeccable condition on this superb stereo soundboard album. Enjoy this third masterpiece, following the highly acclaimed Shepherd’s Bush and Las Vegas recordings, in perfect sound quality. This is a masterpiece!
