Description

Three unofficial, limited-edition LPs on green vinyl feature the complete broadcast of the concert Jimmy Page and Robert Plant performed on January 27, 1996, at the Praça da Apoteose in Rio de Janeiro, during the Hollywood Rock Festival. It was the only Brazilian date on the tour promoting the album “No Quarter,” during which the guitarist and singer were accompanied by a band that included Porl Thompson on guitar, Charlie Jones on bass, Michael Lee on drums, Nigel Eaton on hurdy-gurdy, Jim Sutherland on mandolin and bodhrán, and Ed Shearmur on Hammond organ, as well as a string section and an Egyptian percussion ensemble conducted by Hossam Ramzy. With the exception of “Laride” (Eaton’s solo interlude), the setlist is entirely composed of Led Zeppelin songs, mostly revisited in an ethnic key and scented with Moroccan and Middle Eastern aromas in the wake of the concept developed with the album two years earlier, but also enriched by moments of pure rock and roll.
