JIMI HENDRIX – LIVE IN SWEDEN 1969 (PURPLE VINYL LP)
$39.00
CODA RECORDS – LP
Description
Released by Coda Records in a limited run of just 500 copies, this unofficial LP pressed on purple vinyl collects the highlights of the second of two shows performed by the Jimi Hendrix Experience at Stockholm’s Konserthuset on January 9, 1969, during a European tour. In dazzling form, the left-handed Seattle native, backed by Mitch Mitchell on drums and Noel Redding on bass, delivers searing versions of classics like “Voodoo Child (Slight Return),” “Purple Haze,” “Hey Joe,” “Fire,” and “Spanish Castle Magic,” as well as a rousing cover of Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love,” before closing with a brief, “work in progress” version of the distorted American anthem “Star Spangled Banner,” which would go down in history seven months later as his performance at the Woodstock Festival.
