Description

Live at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, St. Louis, MO. USA 24th August 2014.

This is a 100% authentic version of the official masterpiece “LIVE+.” The legendary original soundboard is being reissued! Two press CDs will be released simultaneously to permanently preserve the leaked master recordings from the artists involved!

This is the second part of a two-part series. It’s a superb stereo soundboard recording of the “August 24, 2014 St. Louis performance.” Jeff began aiming for a new world with female vocals on his 2016 album “LOUD HAILER,” but this two-part series comes just before that. He was touring the world in the usual (?) style we’re all familiar with. First, let’s take a bird’s-eye view of his activities at that time, which was such a turning point.
●2014

・April 19th – 24th: Australia (4 performances)
・April 27th: Seoul performance
・May 10th: Sao Paulo performance
・May 13th – June 14th: Europe (16 performances)
・August 7th – September 7th: North America #1 (18 performances) ←★Here★
・October 30th – November 9th: UK (3 performances)
●2015
April 13th – May 23rd: North America #2 (28 performances)
・September 25th – 28th: Japan #2 (3 performances)
[A completely official, yet incredibly vivid, original soundboard]
This is Jeff Beck from 2014/2015. It’s memorable that he visited Japan for two consecutive years, but the official “LIVE+” and this two-part series were recorded in the middle of that period. In particular, the St. Louis performance in this work was the 13th performance of “North America #1,” and was eight days (six performances) after the sister work “LAS VEGAS 2014 (Wardour-161),” which was released at the same time.
This work, which conveys such a show, sounds just like its sister work. It’s a master leaked from related parties, simultaneously unearthed through the same unique route, and is a direct connection to the mix table. The loud cheers that can only be heard between songs feel like ripples from far away, and the extremely thick performance sound dominates everything. The incredible directness is overwhelming, and rather than “poured into your ears,” it even feels like “your brain has become an amplifier.” Far from experiencing a live performance, this live album feels as if your skull has become the venue, and it’s a live album in which your whole body synchronizes with the live performance with a direct connection that is different from even official ones.
Moreover, not only is the direct connection amazing, but the mix is also perfect. Usually, when it comes to leaked soundboards, many of them are recorded haphazardly by inserting a cassette into the on-site mix desk, which tends to create a bias in the mix of each instrument to a greater or lesser extent. However, while this work does not waver in the axis that “Jeff’s guitar is the main character,” the ensemble is beautifully controlled, and although it is raw, it is not rough.
This is a (almost certain) guess, but I think these two works were recorded for the official “LIVE+” album. In other words, they are unprocessed leaked soundboards, and at the same time, they are outtakes from the official album. It’s so complete that it’s hard to believe.
[A consistent full show that does not overlap with the official “LIVE+”]
However, what is depicted on such a transcendent soundboard is a full show that is 100% different from “LIVE+”. Parts of the sister work “LAS VEGAS 2014” were also used in “LIVE+”, but this work does not overlap with “LIVE+” at all. And the set itself is different. Let’s organize it by comparing them here.
●Exclusive songs not performed since 2016 (3 songs + 1 song)
・Instrumental: Loaded/Nine (Plan 9)/Yemin
・Vocal: Why Give It Away
●Other (5 songs + 5 songs)
・Instrumental You Know You Know/You Never Know (★)/A Day In The Life/Big Block (*)/Where Were You (*)
・Vocal: Morning Dew/A Change Is Gonna Come/Superstition/Rollin’ and Tumblin’/Going Down
*Note: Songs marked with “★” were not on the official “LIVE+”. Songs marked with “*” are not on the sister album “LAS VEGAS 2014”, which was released at the same time.
…And that’s how it is. The “Danny Boy” that was unique to that time has been omitted, and the “GUITAR SHOP” classics “Big Block” and “Where Were You” have been included. While the rarity has decreased somewhat, the number of songs and the performance period have increased in volume.
The otherworldly directness of a direct mix table system, the reality of a full show from start to finish, and the official “LIVE+” live performance with no duplicates. While on par with the official work, this is a transcendent live album that symbolizes “Jeff Beck in 2014” with a completely different flavor. This is an absolute must-have album from our store, which can be called “another ‘LIVE+’.” Please enjoy this press CD anytime, anywhere, without losing its luster.
★Superb stereo soundboard recording of the “August 24, 2014 St. Louis performance.” This is a master leaked by a person involved, unearthed through our own route, and is the highest quality of a direct connection to the mix table. This is an absolute record from our shop, which can be said to be “another ‘LIVE+'” that boasts a quality comparable to the official ‘LIVE+’, a different dimension of directness, and the reality of a consistent full show from start to finish.
