In the early 80s, Iggy Pop’s concerts were as wild, unpredictable and overwhelming as they had been in the previous decade. These performances, recovered from radio broadcasts of his sixth solo album “Zombie Birdhouse” tour and released on an unofficial double CD by Power Chord, are a reminder of this: these are songs recorded during the shows of November 11, 1982 at the MacEwan Hall at the University of Calgary, Canada, and July 19, 1983 at the Capitol Theatre in Sydney, Australia. The rocker from Muskegon, Michigan, alternates pieces from the new, hypnotic and experimental LP such as “Run Like A Villain”, “Eat Or Be Eaten”, “Street Crazies”, “Platonic”, “The Villagers”, “Life Of Work” and “The Ballad Of Cookie McBride” with solo and Stooges classics such as “The Passenger”, “Loose”, “Search & Destroy”, “Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell”, “I Wanna Be Your Dog” and “No Fun” proposed in medley with “I’m Waiting For My Man” by the Velvet Underground; other covers in the repertoire are “Little Boxes” by Malvina Reynolds, “Louie Louie” by the Kingsmen, “Little Red Rooster” by Willie Dixon (but made famous by Howlin’ Wolf) and “One Two Brown Eyes” by Them.
