“My brother Rickson is 10 times stronger than me.” That’s what Royce Gracie once said, or so he said.
The ultimate title, which will make the extremely popular fastest definitive edition “MEAN MACHINE 5-5-5” (XAVEL-HM-250) say the same thing, is finally here! The biggest shock
to 8 billion gunners around the world !
The Japan Tour 2025 one-night K Arena Yokohama performance is completely recorded with the super official, already insane, superb sound!
This work, which demixes and remasters the original multi-stereo IEM matrix sound source of the XAVEL label, is a monumental item that shines brilliantly in the history of GNR’s live bootlegs!
The specifications are also a truly memorial item with a permanent press 3CD, a beautiful paper jacket, a limited hologram card and a Japanese obi that old fans will not be able to resist!
This is a genuine piece that we strongly recommend to all the unruly gunners who say, “I don’t care what you say as long as I can hear the sound, so I’m fine with a monotone copy board”! It’s the ultimate item!
In addition, this item “Limited Set” comes with a 2-disc Blu-ray disc that contains the entire performance recorded with the original audience shot.
The audience source, which is the first to appear in Japan, is used as the master, and you can enjoy the best image that stably captures the entire stage and the screen on the right side from the front of the venue arena.
The audio part uses a demixed and remastered version of the multi-IEM matrix sound source that was also used for the CD, and you can enjoy the entire live with the highest quality sound and video, along with the beautiful HD quality that makes the most of the large capacity of the 2-disc Blu-ray.
The latest tour, titled “BECAUSE WHAT YOU WANT & WHAT YOU GET ARE TWO COMLETELY DIFFERENT THINGS”, seems to advocate a return to the origin.
The kickoff stage of the tour ended on May 1 in Incheon, Korea, and this performance was held with great anticipation. The golden age GNR gig of “We’ll decide the songs to play that day on stage according to the mood on the spot” was played as it was, and you can see our Guns N’ Roses, the one and only “real rock band” that does not have any pre-planned harmony, is still alive and well.
The long-awaited start of “Jungle” brought the voltage of the venue to its peak from the beginning. The 3-hour long performance was a stage shortly after the start of the tour, and perhaps because they took 2024 off for a complete rest, the performance of the band, led by Axel, was full of energy and was very wonderful, making it a particularly memorable stage among the recent performances in Japan…
I think that everyone knows this, so I will omit any detailed explanation of the performance content, and from here on I will focus solely on the sound quality.
I think it will be difficult to read unless you are a real maniac, so for now, I will give you a final summary.
Don’t hesitate to buy it! This one is definitely the best!!
☆About the concept of a demixed and remastered version of a multi-stereo IEM matrix sound source
“MEAN MACHINE 5-5-5”, which has been very well received as the fastest definitive version, is a multi-stereo IEM sound source that boasts excellent sound balance, but it had various minor problems such as “Of the two separated guitars, Richard is placed closer to the center than the left channel”, “The frequency bands of the bass and drums overlap, so the bass lacks sharpness”, “The balance of Dizzy’s piano is too loud and stands out in some songs”, and “The overall sound is a bit muddy due to the audience source used for supplementation”.
This “demixed and remastered version” has solved these problems and has succeeded in transforming the overall sound quality into a high-quality sound of a different dimension.
A multi-stereo IEM sound source is a pseudo-stereo SBD sound source that records the entire band sound by mixing multiple IEM sources with different mix balances.
However, IEM sources that are originally stereo mixed to be monitored with the left and right ears have the sounds of instruments that the person does not need to monitor cut out, and the positioning of each part is changed to a balance that is easy for the person to hear, so there is a wall and limit that cannot be overcome by mixing them to achieve the aforementioned “pseudo-stereo SBD sound source”, which has been a long-standing concern for us at XAVEL. In
order to overcome this limit, a method called demixing and remastering, which was introduced last year and is also used in this title, was introduced.
In other words, by applying a demixing process using the latest AI to this “pseudo-stereo SBD sound source”, it is re-separated into multi-tracks for each instrument such as vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard. This title is a title in which each of these instruments has been individually remastered and polished to the best balance that can be described as the best of the best.
Below is a brief summary of the main points of the remaster for each part.
☆Vocals
Axl Rose’s hyper vocals, like his appearance, show no signs of aging. His vocal style, which makes full use of seven different vocal tones, is the foundation of the Guns sound, but due to its wide dynamic range, it tends to be buried in some songs in live performances. In this demixing and remastering process, in order to make Axl’s magical vocals 120% live, we paid close attention to the frequency band and left/right positioning of each instrument, and placed him in the center position to be the immovable core in all songs and all aspects.
☆Guitar
Even in the fastest definitive version “MEAN MACHINE5-5-5”, we were able to enjoy Slash and Richard’s guitars with a wonderful sense of separation, but Richard was placed much closer to the center than Slash, revealing one of the limitations of multi-stereo IEM matrix recording. To solve this problem, the track separated into just the guitar parts was remastered. As a result, perfect stereo separation was achieved with Slash on the right channel and Richard on the left channel. Furthermore, by applying optimal equalization to each of the left and right guitars, the charm of the contrasting twin guitar sounds of Slash, who is wickedly bad and cool, and Richard, who is almighty and serious, is perfectly reproduced.
☆Bass
Our Duff. The sound of that one-and-only bass tends to overlap with the kick and toms of the drums in live performances, and in some songs on “MEAN MACHINE5-5-5” it tends to be buried. To solve this serious problem, the track separated into just the bass parts by this demixing process was carefully remastered. As a result, we have succeeded in perfectly reviving that gritty bass sound. When you hear the bass parts in the middle of “Jungle” or the intros of “You Could Be Mine” and “It’s So Easy,” you can clearly picture Duff standing tall on the monitor speaker! And every Gunner will surely exclaim in admiration, “Da, Duff!” ☆Drums
New
drummer Isaac Carpenter. His bad boy look, reminiscent of Tommy Lee, and his excellent drumming with a sense of stability have already captured the hearts of many Gunners. In this demixing process, the separated drum tracks were further separated into bass drum, snare, toms, metal parts, etc., and then remastered. When it comes to Guns drums, it’s Steven from the “Appetite” period and Matt from the “Use” period, but the drum sounds of the two were contrasted with the former’s “soft” sound, which was full of speed, and the latter’s “hard” sound, which was powerful and tight. This time, the album has been remastered with the aim of combining the best of both worlds, “soft” and “hard”.
☆Keyboards, chorus, and others
Dizzy’s keyboards, percussion, and chorus, who are the unsung heroes. Axel’s piano in “November Rain”, and Melissa, who plays an important role in the new songs, are mixed with the delicate essence that is essential to the Guns sound in live performances in an exquisite balance that hits the spot.
