Description
Deer Creek Music Center, Noblesville, IN, USA 29th May 1991
GUNS N’ ROSES, still featuring Izzy Stradlin, before the release of “USE YOUR ILLUSION.” This iconic soundboard has been updated. This premium version, meticulously mastered by “GRAF ZEPPELIN,” is now available as a permanently preserved 2CD press.
This work was recorded at the “Noblesville Performance on May 29, 1991.” It is a stereo soundboard recording capturing the full show. While new talents Dizzy Reed and Matt Sorum were also added, the most important thing is to enjoy the most delicious ensemble, “with Izzy and no horns,” on a premium soundboard. This is a good opportunity, so let’s first take a look at the overview of their activities during this turbulent period.

[The highest peak master of the official class who has not yet given up the throne]
This is the turbulent 1990/1991. The beginning of the “USE YOUR ILLUSION Tour” brings to mind the unveiling of Rock in Rio II and the Ritz performance that was made official with the Deluxe Edition, but the Noblesville performance of this work was the fourth performance of “North America # 1” after the warm-up and the full-scale tour finally began.
This show has long been known for its TV broadcast, but the highest-level updated master was discovered in 2022. The world was shocked by the appearance of the new master, which included scenes cut from the TV broadcast, such as member introductions and drum solos. However, even more shocking was the sound itself that permeated the entire show. Not only was it stereo, but the sound quality itself was dramatically improved, making it a superb soundboard that was comparable to the official “LIVE IN NEW YORK.”
[Meticulous mastering that has taken the pinnacle to the next level]
This work is the highest-level update, with “GRAF ZEPPELIN” refining such an impactful soundboard. While the previous album, “ZODIAC 581,” was already quite complete, it’s not quite a completely different thing, but there’s no doubt that it has updated the peak. Pitch and phase deviation throughout the entire show was within 1/1000 of a second, and the balance was adjusted after bandwidth analysis. The somewhat spoiled high and low frequencies have also been enhanced, reproducing the sound output at that time as precisely as possible.
Furthermore, various noise treatments have been made more precise. To put it simply, perhaps it’s the filler part after “It’s So Easy.” The new master cut about 20 seconds between songs, but our shop independently filled in the gaps with the conventional TV broadcast version. The previous version, “ZODIAC 581,” also had a similar filler, but this time the hum noise has been carefully removed, resulting in a natural finish that’s so natural you won’t even notice it’s been switched. Of course, this is only about 20 seconds of non-performance material, but the “high precision” of not overlooking even such small details is the essence of this work.
[A treasure trove of exclusive songs you can only hear the night before the release]
This superb master depicts a full show full of rare songs that were only possible before the album was released. Let’s organize it here by comparing it with the official “LIVE IN NEW YORK.”
●Use Your Illusion (11 songs)
・I: Right Next Door To Hell (★) / Bad Obsession (★) / Dust N’ Bones (★) / Double Talkin’ Jive / Live And Let Die / November Rain (*) / Perfect Crime (★*)
・II: Civil War / 14 Years (*) / Knockin’ On Heaven’s Door / Estranged
●Other (7 songs +α)
・Appetite for Destruction: Mr. Brownstone / It’s So Easy (*) / Rocket Queen (*) / Sweet Child O’Mine / Welcome To The Jungle / Paradise City
・Other: Patience / Speak Softly Love (Love Theme From The Godfather)
*Note: Songs marked with a “★” are songs that were only performed in the 90s. Songs marked with a “*” are songs that could not be heard on the official “LIVE IN NEW YORK” album.
What catches the eye are the songs that were only performed in the 90s. They also performed the phantom song “Right Next Door To Hell,” which was only available before the album was released, and “14 Years,” which had been hidden until 2012. Being able to hear both “Dust N’ Bones” and “14 Years,” with Izzy as the main vocalist, is a real treat only available at this time.
Also noteworthy is “November Rain.” This day marked the historic moment of its world premiere, but after the warm-up period, the engines were warmed up and the performance was one level more complete than “LIVE IN NEW YORK.” The set, which incorporated a large number of new songs, was fiercely fresh, and the solid five-member lineup fully demonstrated the “original GNR” feel.
Only the peak can surpass the peak. This is a top-of-the-line update, refining the impactful master that took the world by storm four years ago with meticulous mastering by GRAF ZEPPELIN. Guns N’ Roses had evolved into a giant monster, but they hadn’t lost their way thanks to Izzy Stradlin. This historic soundboard album will imprint their most cherished era in your mind. Enjoy it anytime, anywhere with the permanent 2CD press!
★ This is a stereo soundboard recording of the “May 29, 1991 Noblesville performance,” before Izzy Stradlin left the band. GRAF ZEPPELIN has refined the highest-quality stereo master, different from the TV broadcast. The original sound is reproduced as precisely as possible, and the finished result is so natural that you won’t even notice the transitions between the supplementary scenes.
