Description
Apeldoorn, Netherlands 19th May 1979 SBD
Girlschool was discovered by Lemmy of Motorhead and began their journey as the longest-running all-girl band in history in the late ’70s. This soundboard album will bring you back to their pre-debut days.
This work was recorded at the “May 19, 1979 Apeldoorn Performance.” This is the legendary soundboard recording. The debut album “DEMOLITION” was released in 1980, but the original four members were only together in 1978. First, let’s take a look at the early days of the band and see where this work fits in.

[Legendary soundboard reissued from a lost LP]
This is Girlschool from 1978/1979. After the dissolution of their predecessor, Painted Lady, Kim McAuliffe and Enid Williams took regular jobs, but resumed their band activities in the spring of 1978. In April, they welcomed Kelly Johnson and Dennis Dufort, and Girlschool was born. They released the single “Take It All Away” in December 1978 (some say November 1979), and their live performances also became more active. The Apeldoorn performance featured in this release was the final day of their first overseas tour, “Europe #1.”

This work, which conveys such a dawning show, is an ultra-realistic soundboard. It is a masterpiece created from the legendary LP bootleg “LIVE AT APELDOORN 1979 (Bauta 001).” This LP was made in Sweden (the original LP is credited as a Japanese pressing, but it was actually a Swedish pressing), and is a phantom album of which only 375 copies were produced in 1979. It is a valuable item in terms of the number of copies, but 1979 was before Girlschool even debuted. This is an extremely rare record produced in such an unknown era.
Moreover, the sound is also legendary. Although it is difficult to assert due to the many mysteries surrounding it, it is said to be “probably a soundboard recording,” and in fact, the cheers of the audience are barely audible, and the raw sound of the performance tramples everything. The extremely thick core and the wonderful sense of separation are also tremendous. Although the balance of the mix cannot be said to be official as it was before the debut, it is an ultra-direct sound that is far removed from audience recording.

…And that’s how it goes. Only three songs were used on their debut album “DEMOLITION.” The rest are a ton of unreleased songs and covers. Combined with the soundboard quality, it might be better to call it a “0th album before the 1st” or “Pre-debut album” rather than a live album from a precious era.
47 years after their formation, Girls School has gone from being known as the “pioneers of girl bands” to the “longest-running female band.” This soundboard album will immerse you in the moment just before their debut. This legendary live album holds significant significance not only for the girls, but also for rock history itself. Experience it to the fullest with this top-notch sound.
★The legendary soundboard recording of the “May 19, 1979 Apeldoorn concert.” This is an extremely early recording, even before the debut album was produced, and is a masterpiece created from the legendary LP bootleg “Bauta 001.” With an ultra-direct sound far removed from the audience recording, this cultural heritage album could be described as a “pre-debut album,” packed with unreleased songs and covers.
