GOOD SHIP FUNKE – CD
Description
An unofficial CD on the Good Ship Funke label features the much-bootlegged matinee show that George Harrison performed on November 12, 1974, at the LA Forum with a formidable jazz fusion band featuring Robben Ford on guitar, Billy Preston on keyboards, Willie Weeks on bass, Andy Newmark on drums, Tom Scott on horns, Jim Horn on saxophone, Chuck Findley on trumpet, and Emil Richards on percussion. “Hari’s On Tour (Express)”, the instrumental opening track from the album “Dark Horse” which was about to be released, opens a setlist in which the former Beatles guitarist plays pieces written for the Fab Four (“For You Blue”, the classic “While My Guitar Gently Weeps”) and songs from the previous “Living In The Material World” (a funky “Sue Me, Sue You Blues”), leaving ample space for Preston (“Will It Go Round In Circles”), in the central part of the concert for the Indian sitarist and “special guest” Ravi Shankar and, in the final “Tom Cat”, for Scott’s LA Express.
