Description

Tarrant County Convention Center, Fort Worth, TX, USA 22nd November 1974 TRULY PERFECT SOUND

George Harrison’s 1974 North American tour, which was brought back into the spotlight with the release of the highly popular “LONG BEACH 1974,” had a superb audience that had long known its greatness.
Anyway, the sound image is incredibly intense, and the recording state is so clear and powerful that it is almost as if you are mistaken as if “Mike Millard recorded it?”
Therefore, in the analog era, Contraband’s LP “MORE FROM THE TOUR” and Wizard’s “A DARK HORSE IN ’74” were released in the old days. However, in the CD era, the sound quality was dramatically upgraded with the nostalgic “HARI’S ON TOUR”. Above all, when it was released, it was almost misunderstood that the sound board had finally come out from the 74 tour… I remember it fondly.
However, this was an incomplete version that contained only George’s parts on one CD, and later a complete version that included the parts of Shankar Family & Friends was released under two different “FORTWORTH EXPRESS” titles, which gave the impression of being the pinnacle of the album.
However, 10 years ago, files from the master cassette of the George 74 tour’s rare recording were distributed. It was an undeniable quality that convinced me that it was the definitive version and the best sound quality from the master, but for some reason the item was not released. Looking back, 10 years ago was the ice age of the George 74 tour item, and on the contrary, the master recording of the standard audience ended up being left unattended.
The final blow to this unfortunate situation for this superb audience is that the Fort Worth files have now disappeared from the sound source site. So, in response to the positive reception of “LONG BEACH 1974”, a limited press CD release of the Fort Worth master 10 years later has been realized based on the provision of an overseas enthusiast who still owns the files!
While the two previously released “FORTWORTH EXPRESS” were complete, there was a sense that the state of the sound source and the sound quality were somehow lacking, but the upper feeling of the recording from the master this time is striking. Although it is a sound source that has been overwhelmingly easy to listen to and has an unshakable name among enthusiasts as a superb audience, the sound quality that is finally natural and clear is only possible because of the master. In front of this version, even the past items that seemed to have such high sound quality sound like a hazy one.
And while Long Beach was a great recording that captured the rough performance unique to the first half of the tour, here in Fort Worth the performance is amazing. In particular, the famous cover of the 1974 tour, “In My Life,” is a solid performance that you would want to call “finished form,” and George’s singing is captured with vivid high sound quality.
Even more surprising was the excitement of the Shankar Family. Unlike the reports and the anchor stones of the time, the audience here in Fort Worth listened to their parts with great interest, and the audience cheered loudly when the song “Cheparte” with its many ups and downs was played. George was so excited by the excitement that he even changed the lyrics of “For You Blue” to “I love you! Fort Worth, Texas.” The stereo audience’s ability to capture the rhythm section of Andy Newmark and Willie Weeks so clearly was truly impressive.
Not only is the sound quality overwhelming, but the performance of George in a good mood can be felt as if it were a superb audience. Many people who have been helped by the nostalgic “HARI’S ON TOUR” have finally made this rare recording into a CD from the master. If “LONG BEACH 1974” represents the first half of the tour, then this is the definitive Fort Worth version of the best audience, representing not only the middle part of the tour, but also the entire tour. This is the first piece of George’s 1974 North American tour!
