★UPGRADE
The iconic soundboard, which is one of the most popular in the Peter Gabriel era, has been brushed up. The highest peak edition polished by “GRAF ZEPPELIN” will be released on press 2CD.
This work permanently preserves the “April 21, 1974 Montreal Performance.” It’s a superb soundboard recording. This work is the highest peak update of the soundboard, even called the masterpiece of the Gabriel era itself. It’s an essential introduction to Genesis collector’s items, so even beginners should start with the basics. 1974 was a year that saw the “SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND Tour” and “THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY Tour,” and even slight differences in timing can completely change the meaning of the show. First, let’s take a look at the position of this work from an overview of their activities at the time.

[Gabriel’s Masterpiece Soundboard]
This is GENESIS from 1973/1974. We have archived as many records as possible, but the above is a list of only the iconic soundboards and pro shots for clarity. The Montreal performance in this work was the final stage of the “SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND Tour.” It was the 34th performance of “North America #3” (incidentally, the recently discovered and much-talked-about “NEW JERSEY 1974 MASTER CASSETTE SOUNDBOARD [Amity 819]” was the first day of the same leg).

And the biggest point of this “SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND Tour” is that, of course, “Moonlit Knight” is a historic masterpiece, but what’s even more important is the performance ability. During the Gabriel era, GENESIS was in a stage of growth as musicians, and the more they toured, the more skilled they became. They evolved into an excellent band that could smoothly and fluently portray complex musical ideas.
In that respect, Gabriel’s next and final “THE LAMB LIES DOWN ON BROADWAY Tour” is the ultimate goal, but another key point here is the set list. The live performances of the “Dazzling Broadway” era were rock opera performances centered on full performances of the story album. The “SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND Tour” was the last live performance that brought together the best selection of songs that had been accumulated on many albums. The masterpiece soundboard of the tour, where both the performance and the set were at their peak… that is the true identity of this work. Let’s organize the full set here.

[GRAF ZEPPELIN’s highest peak update sound]
This show is known as the most famous broadcast sound source of the Gabriel era, and is a staple among classics that has continued to produce numerous titles since the analog era. It has been repeatedly upgraded throughout its long history, and this work is the 2025 version. The original source is the same as the previous edition, “DEFINITIVE MONTREAL 1974,” and while it was unearthed in 2016, it remains the longest and highest peak that has not been surpassed even now, nine years later. This work is a refining of that best master by “GRAF ZEPPELIN.”

The original source is the same as the previous edition, “DEFINITIVE MONTREAL 1974,” and while it was unearthed in 2016, it remains the longest and highest peak that has not been surpassed even now, nine years later. This work is a refining of that best master by “GRAF ZEPPELIN.”
A distinctive feature of “GRAF ZEPPELIN” mastering is that it does not involve any unnecessary attempts to add impact, but rather restores the original sound as precisely as possible. Techniques range from pitch and phase correction that doesn’t allow for even a 1/1000th of a second of deviation, to balance adjustments after frequency band analysis, all of which are carried out faithfully to the basics and with extraordinary precision. The most effective technique is noise processing, which carefully processes various noises according to their characteristics without affecting the performance sound in any way. This masterful technique, stopping just short, is remarkable.
That being said, some people may wonder, “Where is the noise?” because the previous version was already quite accurate. The most obvious noise is probably the low-frequency hum. With the previous master, if you listen carefully with headphones, you might notice a faint low-frequency noise in the quiet parts. With this work, this has been completely wiped away, and the transparency of the silent parts has increased dramatically. You might be surprised at even such a small noise, but that is the “height” that this work aims for.
This is a full live album that condenses the masterpieces from the three Gabriel era masterpieces “NURSERY CRYME,” “FOXTROT,” and “SELLING ENGLAND BY THE POUND” into a single set list and spells out the masterful performance skills. This is the highest peak update of the soundboard album, which has been acclaimed as “the masterpiece of the Gabriel era” beyond the official/unofficial distinction. Please enjoy it anytime, anywhere with the press 2CD that will never lose its brilliance.

The ultimate Peter Gabriel masterpiece, “ULTIMATE MONTREAL 1974,” has been resurrected as the ultimate album. The limited-edition, numbered sticker-equipped first pressing comes with a special bonus: the video of the same Montreal performance, “MONTREAL 1974: THE VIDEO.”
GENESIS – MONTREAL 1974: THE VIDEO(Special Bonus DVDR)
Live at the University Sports Centre, Montreal, Canada 20th & 21st April 1974
Live at the University Sports Centre, Montreal, Canada 20th & 21st April 1974
The main press 2CD “ULTIMATE MONTREAL 1974” is a masterpiece that allows you to listen to the best selection of live performances from the Peter Gabriel era on an official soundboard. Like the original release, it comes with a bonus video of the Montreal performance.
This work is the same show as the main press 2CD… but it’s a little different. In fact, the Montreal performance was held at the same “Universal Sports Center” for two consecutive days, “April 20th” and “April 21st”. Of these, the radio “CHOM-FM”, which was also included in the main press 2CD, was broadcast on “April 21st”, but the video was only recorded on the previous day, “April 20th”. This work is a video work in which the “April 20th” video is overlaid with the FM audio of “April 21st”.
This video was produced by an overseas Genesis enthusiast. The footage is from the original film, but it boasts vibrant colors and a noise-free screen in exceptionally good condition. Moreover, the footage is skillfully assembled from multiple cameras, allowing for immersive viewing for 72 minutes, with quality that is practically professional-quality. However, since these are consecutive performances from the same venue, they are separate live shows, so the entire footage isn’t perfectly synchronized. There are occasional silent pickings, and sections without footage (mainly between songs) are simply still images. However, the synchronization of the parts with footage is incredible. From Tony Banks’ fingertips to Phil Collins’ sticks to Gabriel’s mouth as he delivers his French MC, it’s so perfectly synchronized that it feels as if the footage itself is real. Even the still images provide a solid grasp of the performance. For example, when there wasn’t enough footage of Gabriel playing the flute, multiple photos of the instrument playing were used, and zooming and sliding were used to create a sense of fantastical movement. The meticulous attention to detail, combined with a dedication to detail, is clearly evident.
The high-quality performance of the iconic Montreal concert is astounding. The sound alone is fantastical, but Gabriel’s costumes, actions, and even the MC scenes recounting the lyrics are also perfectly captured. For example, the Romeo and Juliet story before the “Cinema Show” is familiar in audio, but rarely seen in professional shots on television. However, this release allows you to see Gabriel’s demeanor behind his humorous delivery. Furthermore, the recording even includes screen footage that evokes the world of the lyrics, including Phil Collins having a monkey puppet play cymbals, and the rare recording of “More Fool Me.” It’s a masterpiece from start to finish.
In addition to the 2-CD main press, which has updated the highest quality ever for a classic live performance, this luxurious live set also comes with this historic masterpiece video, allowing you to fully enjoy “1974 Montreal.” Both the main live album and this video are not only monumental in progressive rock, but also superb sets that enhance each other when combined. Please enjoy the enchanting world of GENESIS to the fullest.
