Description
Ottawa Civic Centre, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada 5th December 1981 STEREO SBD
The shocking first appearance of GENESIS’ soundboard has been a hot topic. Newly discovered treasures from the “ABACAB Tour” that no one has ever heard before. Two works will be released simultaneously!
This work is the second part of the “ABACAB Tour” two-part series. It is a stereo soundboard recording of the “Ottawa performance on December 5, 1981.” The official work “THREE SIDES LIVE” was produced from the “ABACAB Tour,” and this week “ROSEMONT 1981 SOUNDBOARD (Amity 821)” was also released at the same time. To avoid confusion, let’s first check the relative positions of each in the overview of activities at that time.

This is GENESIS in 1981. Three performances (New York / Nassau / Birmingham) were adopted for the official “THREE SIDES LIVE,” but the Ottawa performance in this work is in between. It was the 21st performance of the “North American” leg. All of the consecutive GENESIS soundboard series are first appearances, but this day is also a hidden night where even audience recordings have not been known.
This work, which conveys such a show, is a shocking, superb soundboard. As with the examples of this leaked series, this work is also in the top class of direct-to-mix systems. Unprocessed/unedited performance sounds and vocals are recorded in their raw form, and the mix, which is not intended for home audio, is extremely vivid. The cheers are farther away than usual, and it feels like you are experiencing a live studio performance right there.
Moreover, this work is a 100% pure soundboard album. The simultaneously released “ROSEMONT 1981 SOUNDBOARD” was released with some cheering sections supplemented by audience recordings on the same day, but (as mentioned above) the Ottawa performance is a hidden place where no recordings have been discovered. There is no supplementation of any kind, and it is penetrated from corner to corner by a direct-connected soundboard.
What is depicted with such a direct feeling of another dimension is a full show overflowing with masterpieces from the 1980s. The set itself is the same as “ROSEMONT 1981 SOUNDBOARD”, but here we will reorganize it while paying attention to its rarity.
●Duke (4 songs)
・Behind The Lines (★) / Duchess / Misunderstanding / Turn It On Again
●Abacab (6 songs)

*Note: Songs marked with a “★” are repertoire that could only be heard in the early 1980s. Songs marked with a “★★” in particular are exclusive songs that have not been performed since the “ABACAB Tour”.

…And so it goes like this. Even in the same 80s, there is plenty of repertoire that will no longer be played by the time of the “INVISIBLE TOUCH Tour”. The “ABACAB” number is especially valuable, and “No Reply At All” is also a limited song up to the “THREE SIDES LIVE Tour”.
This is a new soundboard masterpiece that details the Ottawa performance, which has never been heard before, even in audience recording. This is a valuable and exceptional piece in the equally new excavation series. Please enjoy it to the fullest.
