~CLAPTON IS GOD~. Eric Clapton, the god of guitar. In 1963, he joined the Yardbirds at the age of 18, and rose to become one of the leading guitarists in British rock with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers and Cream. Especially from 1966 to 1967, he used a Gibson Les Paul and Marshall amps to establish the “blues guitar in rock” with his sharp fingering and intense vibrato. He has been praised not only by music fans but also by fellow musicians.
From 1963 to 1967, Clapton’s ultimate collection of early recordings, which thoroughly covers only the best performances from his recordings, live performances, collaborations with other artists, and guest appearances, is now available from Eternal Grooves’ Premium Collection.
Starting with Clapton’s earliest recordings, such as a 1963 live performance when the Yardbirds backed legendary bluesman Sonny Boy Williamson II on his tour of the UK, and “Stirs Me Up” from a session in London with Otis Spann and Muddy Waters, the Yardbirds period in which his sharp phrases shine with “Telecaster and VOX”. He then moved to the Bluesbreakers, where he earned the title of “CLAPTON IS GOD” for the blues phrases he created on “Les Paul and Marshall 1962”. After recordings of Powerhouse, a temporary band with S. Winwood and Jack Bruce, and sessions with Jimmy Page, he finally formed Cream. In just five years, you can hear plenty of Clapton’s guitar evolving at a rapid pace. There are also plenty of
rare tracks, such as his collaboration with Champion Jack Dupree, a New Orleans blues pianist born in 1909, and a BBC live recording of “Hideaway” before recording with the Bluesbreakers. Clapton’s playing here can be said to be the history of British rock. The ultimate collection of early masterpieces!
With detailed Japanese commentary on each song and postcards included, this limited series always sells out quickly, so fans should check it out!
Released in a DVD-sized 2CD digipack from Eternal Grooves.
