Sharp choking, swaying vibrato. Plenty of masterpieces that can be called a rock guitar solo exhibition.
In April 2025, the god of guitar, Eric Clapton, will perform in Japan for the 24th time. He has
performed at the sacred Budokan more than 100 times, and
this collection of Clapton’s early masterpieces that still fascinate rock and guitar fans is here.
Focusing on the masterpieces of his trio band Cream from 1966 to 1967, in addition
to alternate versions and outtakes that cannot be heard on the official album, it also includes performances from the Yardbirds era in 1964 and performances from his time with John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers, when he was nicknamed “Clapton is God”.
Nicknamed “Slowhand” because his fingers seemed to move magically slowly when playing fast blues phrases during London club performances, Clapton rose to fame with a live performance at the Yardbirds’ Marquee Club. However, wanting to pursue the blues, he left the Yardbirds and joined John Mayall’s band, where his skills improved even further. This led to the fateful formation of Cream. During his time with
Cream, he used the front microphone of his Les Paul to create a sweetly distorted “woman tone,” leaving behind a string of memorable performances.
This is a collection of Eric Clapton’s greatest performances, in rare versions from the 1960s.
