Description

Expensive Woodland Recordings packages a 6-CD box set compiled once again from out-of-copyright radio recordings. The 80 tracks cover a period between the early 80s and the late 90s: the first disc contains a show from 1981 at the time of the debut album “Speak & Spell”, the second a performance from 1996 and the third a performance from 1982, while the fourth and fifth document the “Ultra” tour in 1997 and 1998 and the sixth that of “Songs Of Faith And Devotion” in 1994. The setlist includes, in addition to lesser-known pieces that are worth listening to again, all the major hits by Dave Gahan, Martin Gore and Andy Fletcher (initially supported by Vince Clark, who resigned at the end of ’81 to form Yazoo): among these “Personal Jesus”, “Enjoy The Silence”, “Just Can’t Get Enough”, “Condemnation”, “New Life”, “Stripped”, “It’s No Good”, “Everything Counts”, “Never Let Me Down Again” and “Policy Of Truth”.
