DAVID JOHANSEN – PARK WEST ’78: WXRT-FM BROADCAST MASTER – 1 CD-R

After Johnny & Jerry left the band, the New York Dolls added new members Sylvain Sylvain and continued to work, but the band broke up in 1977. In May 1978, he released his first solo album with Bobby Blaine, Tony Machine, and his friend Sylvain, who were later members of the band. This work is a high-quality stereo soundboard recording of a live performance held at Park West, a venue with a capacity of about 1,000 people in Chicago, Illinois, on July 13, 1978, about two months later! It has been digitally transferred directly from the WXRT-FM broadcast reel master, and you can enjoy the superb sound quality with a clear, impeccable mix and balance that would not be out of place if it were released as a regular live album! In addition, the pitch of the same sound source circulated on the Internet was significantly out of sync, but of course this work has been carefully corrected. The set list includes numbers from his solo debut album, released the same year, such as “Funky But Chic” and “Cool Metro,” which were also played at the later Dolls’ live shows, as well as a cover of Wilson Pickett’s “I Found a Love,” and New York Dolls classics “Looking for a Kiss” and “Personality Crisis.” You can enjoy this superb live performance in superb sound quality, accompanied by a band with a triple guitar lineup, including Sylvain Sylvain, who only appeared on one song on the solo album!
