With the announcement of his first visit to Japan in 17 years, David Byrne is suddenly generating a lot of excitement. Now, the latest pro-shot footage is perfect for preparing for his visit.

This release contains footage from two performances: multi-camera pro-shot footage of the Coachella Festival performances on April 11th and 18th, 2026. In recent years, the Coachella Festival has been held over two weeks, from Friday to Sunday, with the same lineup performing twice on the same day. Byrne performed on both Saturdays. Also, Byrne is currently in the midst of the “WHO IS THE SKY? Tour.” This is a good opportunity to take a look at an overview of his current activities.

[Experience the hottest new stage in full with professional footage]
This is the schedule for 2025/2026 that has been announced so far. This film’s appearance at the Coachella Festival was the 7th and 10th shows of “North America #2”, which took place four months before the Japanese performances.

Those two stages were professionally filmed and distributed worldwide. This release is a DVD created from the best master of that footage. It’s only natural since it’s the latest distribution of a world-famous mega-festival, but that’s the original footage. Currently, perhaps because it’s so soon after the show, there are also heavily compressed, poor-quality masters circulating, resulting in a mixed bag of good and bad footage. In this regard, with the advice of researchers, the best master was selected and transferred to DVD for this release.

The quality is, of course, “completely official-level”… or rather, even better. Byrne’s latest stage is surrounded by giant video projections on all four sides (back, left and right walls, and floor), creating an otherworldly performance where the boundary between real people and video is blurred, like the entire thing is a music video. This work brilliantly recreates that話題の異世界 (a world that has been the talk of the town).

[A full show featuring plenty of TALKING HEADS’ greatest hits]
This cutting-edge, otherworldly show, presented in a space that seems to foreshadow their upcoming Japanese performances, is a full show. The setlists for both shows are the same, so let’s summarize them together.

● Solo (4 songs)
– Everything That Happens Will Happen Today: Strange Overtones
– Who Is the Sky?: Everybody Laughs / What Is The Reason For It? / When We Are Singing
● TALKING HEADS (9 songs)
– Remain in Light: Houses in Motion / Once in a Lifetime
– Speaking in Tongues: This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) / Slippery People / Burning Down The House
– Others: And She Was / (Nothing But) Flowers / Psycho Killer / Life During Wartime

…And that’s how it is. Of the 13 tracks, nine are from his TALKING HEADS days. Of course, there are the usual suspects like “Psycho Killer,” “Burning Down The House,” “Once in a Lifetime,” and “This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody),” but there are also solo-only tracks like “And She Was” and “(Nothing But) Flowers.” These are interwoven with “Strange Overtones,” a collaboration with Brian Eno, and new songs from his latest album, “WHO IS THE SKY?”, creating a seamless blend of past and present.

It’s unclear whether the August Japan performances will feature the exact same set as this release, but given the meticulously crafted visual effects that are crucial to the show, it’s likely to be quite similar. Experience David Byrne in 2026, where TALKING HEADS classics and his latest solo work intersect in an otherworldly space enveloped in four giant screens. This definitive release allows you to experience two full shows in stunning professional-shot footage. It’s truly an official, definitive video. Please enjoy it to the fullest.
