pressings as an audio DVD The album “Diamond Dogs” was released in May 1974, following the 60s cover album “Pinups,” which sealed away Ziggy Stardust’s role as a fictional star. Influenced by George Orwell’s science fiction novel “1984,” he planned to turn the book into a musical, but the author’s widow rejected the idea, so he changed the concept to one in which he himself predicts a decadent future as a half-human, half-beast. The album “Diamond Dogs” reached number one on the UK album chart and number five on the US Billboard chart, earning a gold disc. The lead singles “Rebel Rebel” and “Diamond Dogs” were also hits around the world. In June 1974, they began a North American tour called the “Diamond Dogs Tour.” It started with a theatrical show based on the album concept, using a large-scale stage set and props, but due to huge expenses and numerous problems, they abandoned the luxurious theater set after only two months, and after recording their next album “Young Americans” in August, they resumed the tour in October with a simple stage and band arrangement as “The Soul Tour.” This is an interesting album as a transitional work of David Bowie in the 1970s, when he changed his course completely and changed his direction by incorporating soul music during his North American tour. The first half of the CD contains the original analog sound source from the open reel master (REEL-TO-REEL) released in 1974. The sound quality is the closest to the original, and the original analog sound source is completely reproduced, different from the later digital remastering. A different version of the “Rebel Rebel” US single sound source from the album is also included. The second half of the CD contains a valuable 8-track cartridge tape sound source that was distributed in limited quantities in the 1970s. A rare sound source that is noteworthy as an alternate mix with different stereo separation and a dynamic sound like mono with emphasized vocals is included. The sound source unique to cartridge tape, such as the track order that ignores the original and the editing of the interludes, has been reproduced exactly as the original after noise restoration. The DVD contains the reel masters from the CDs as audio DVDs in high-quality high-resolution audio sources (96khz/24bit PCM stereo). In addition, it contains 8-track cartridge tape sources with different mixes and track orders, cassette tape sources that are inferior in sound quality but still feature unique track orders and the sound texture unique to analog, and audio sources from the first edition of the original RCA CD from when it was first released on CD in 1984, which is now difficult to obtain and trades at high prices. You can listen to the sound as it was in the analog era, which is different from the digital remasters currently in circulation. This is a CD & DVD premium master collection that collectors will be interested in, containing a collection of precious original vintage analog sound sources from the 1970s. A limited edition set of 2 CDs and high-resolution audio DVDs in paper jacket.
