In 1978, during his massive world tour, David Bowie gave a studio performance for the German music program “Musikladen.” Recorded at a Bremen TV studio on May 29, 1978, and broadcast on August 4, this long-standing classic has been a familiar sight to fans. While the original broadcast was incomplete, and numerous audio and video releases have been released, none of them have been complete. Now, the long-awaited complete version has finally been released. This newly unearthed footage includes a total of 10 tracks, including two previously unreleased tracks: “What in the World” and “Warsaw.” This is the first time the original, unedited version has been released in its entirety, without the markings that would have been used for later broadcasts. Backed by a powerful band lineup, including Carlos Alomar, Adrian Belew’s already distinctive guitar playing, Dennis Davis’ powerful drumming, and Simon House’s violin, this definitive footage captures Bowie’s beautiful, polished performance on tour. The CD includes the complete 10-track set, including the unaired tracks, in a never-before-seen multi-track stereo remix. The original mono broadcast audio has been newly remixed into stereo from a newly edited multi-track, resulting in an upgraded sound source with clearer vocals, more three-dimensional instruments, and clearly separated previously buried sounds. The DVD includes the complete feature film in a full HD restoration, offering a clearly improved, high-quality video compared to the previous TV broadcast. The audio option includes two versions: the newly remixed stereo sound source and the original mono soundtrack from the TV broadcast. Comparison playback clearly reveals the difference.
