Released as an unofficial double CD on the Yard Stick label, this radio recording documents one of the shows The Cure played in English clubs before launching their 1992 “Wish Tour.” On May 3rd of that year, Robert Smith’s band performed at the National Ballroom in Kilburn, northwest London. Ticket demand naturally far exceeded the venue’s capacity, and £10 tickets ended up being sold by touts for £60 and more. The show is fondly remembered by the lucky few in attendance: it opened with “Open” and “High,” two songs from the new album, which also featured “Doing The Unstuck,” “Apart,” “Wendy Time,” “Cut,” “End,” the long “From The Edge Of The Deep Green Sea,” and the hit single “Friday I’m In Love.” Smith (vocals, guitar, bass, and keyboards), Perry Bamonte (guitars, keyboards, and bass), Porl Thompson (guitars), Simon Gallup (bass, keyboards), and Boris Williams (drums, percussion) also performed a slew of old classics and hits such as “Pictures Of You,” “A Night Like This,” “Lullaby,” “The Walk,” “Let’s Go To Bed,” “Three Imaginary Boys,” “Boys Don’t Cry,” “Charlotte Sometimes,” and “A Forest.”
