Description
An unofficial double LP on Dear Boss label, pressed on limited edition colored vinyl, retrieves from the radio broadcast of the time the famous and oft-bootlegged concert that The Cure held at the Rock Werchter festival (near Leuven, Belgium) on July 5, 1981. After having released their third album “Faith” in April, the Crawley band was now an established presence in English post-punk, a symbol of the so-called goth rock; on that occasion he proposed six of the eight songs from the latest album alongside pieces already much loved by the public such as “10:15 Saturday Night”, “Fire In Cairo” and the inevitable, conclusive “The Forest”, performed in a very long version of almost nine minutes in open polemic (with even “fuck off” pronounced by Robert Smith on the microphone) with the organizers who were pushing for a quick epilogue of the set in order to leave the stage to Robert Palmer. The Cure performed at the time as a trio with Simon Gallup (bass) and Laurence “Lol” Tolhurst (drums) alongside Smith (vocals and guitar).
