Description
The London performance on July 30, 1982, is now available in an upgraded edition with significantly improved sound quality!~
While there are several incomplete audience sources, the label’s previously released “BRIXTON FAIR DEAL 82 -COMPLETE EDITION- (TOTH1175)” was recorded in its entirety using high-quality stereo soundboard recordings. This upgraded edition has been newly digitally transferred and is now available with significantly improved sound quality! While there isn’t much stereo separation, the sound quality is well-balanced across all parts, including the vocals. The missing tracks from the soundboard recording, “Rock the Casbah,” “Janie Jones,” “Police on My Back,” and “Safe European Home,” have been supplemented by high-quality audience recordings from other sources. While the previously released version had a weak bass and a more treble-heavy sound image, this release offers a significantly improved bass profile, resulting in a more powerful sound. This was Mick Jones’ final show in London, and while the tour usually starts with “London Calling” after the opening sound effect “A Fistful of Dollars,” they surprised everyone by playing “White Riot,” their first opening number since 1976! Joe, not wanting to play this song, ended up punching Mick in the face. But from opening to closing, the performance was tense and fantastic, making it one of the best performances of the tour! The set list included five tracks from “COMBAT ROCK,” released two months ago. Mikey Dread appeared on “Rockers Galore,” a dub version of “Bankrobber,” creating a smoky atmosphere. Mick Jones’s effective guitar sounds on “Somebody Got Murdered,” “Stright To Hell,” and “Police And Thieves” were truly highlights of the day. From the final track, “Garageland,” with its gripping intro, fans can now enjoy these rare recordings on an improved sound quality version that’s sure to leave them in ecstasy!
