Northwell at Jones Beach Theater, Wantagh, New York, USA 1 August 2025 STEREO SBD (from the original ALD recording)

★Almost official stereo soundboard!!
Several soundboards from Dylan’s latest tour, currently underway, have been released, creating a buzz among enthusiasts. However, these aren’t strictly recordings from the artist’s side, but rather intercepted audio from the ALD (Assisted Listening Device) system, a familiar feature of Dylan’s stage performances and American live shows. In fact, many Dylan live recordings were released using this method in the 1990s.
Now, thanks to the ALD app, recordings are being made again among Dylan enthusiasts like before. The Buffalo performance on August 8th was the first to be released and has already been released as an item. However, this month, ALD recordings of several shows, including the Buffalo performance, have been released.
However, since these are not official SBDs but merely intercepted recordings, the balance is often unnatural when recorded by one person, and all of the recordings released this time are a combination of recordings intercepted by multiple enthusiasts. The Buffalo recording was the first attempt at this. Furthermore, because they are intercepted recordings, the recordings from September were incomplete, not capturing the entire live performance, and there were days when the interception was unstable and had a fizzing texture.
Of all the recordings released at once, the one with the best balance and sound quality is the August 1st recording from Jones Beach. While the recording was made before Buffalo, the process of combining multiple intercepts occurred later, giving the recording a richer sound. In fact, the clarity and balance are so excellent that at first listen, it feels like a leaked soundboard. While this lacks the realism of a live performance, Dylan’s current live shows aren’t the kind that involve loud noises or excitement. Even more impressive is the amazing sound quality.
Also, when Buffalo appeared, it was a hot topic that “Masters Of War” was played for the first time in a long time, but after that the opening was fixed to the same song, and rather the pattern starting with Jones Beach’s “Gotta Serve Somebody” became rare. In addition, the light arrangement of the song is also attractive.
In addition, the sound board is clear, so it’s great to hear Dylan singing energetically that day in the clearest and most realistic way possible. In fact, songs like “I Can Tell” are so high-energy that it makes you wonder if it’s okay for the elderly Dylan to skip right from the beginning… I was overwhelmed by his overflowing energy.
And among Dylan’s keyboard-based repertoire, “Highway 61 Revisited” is surprisingly cool, performed in a straightforward original arrangement. Compared to the Buffalo version, which was released earlier and garnered a lot of attention, this version features a much richer, booming sound from Tony Garnier’s bass. The sound quality is even more powerful in this rendition, as it recreates the atmosphere of the original.
“Share Your Love With Me” is an R&B cover originally performed by The Band with Richard Manuel on “Moondog Matinee,” but Dylan has also been taking to the stage since spring. His delivery here is indescribable, and the soundboard-like recording allows you to experience his delicate vocals in all their full glory. Enjoy one of the highlights of the current tour with the highest quality sound.
This was a performance at the Outlaw Music Festival, which he also performed at last year, and the performance time fits neatly onto one CD for easy listening. Yet the sound quality is of the highest quality, approaching the official level. This limited-press CD captures the best of the ALD recordings, currently a hot topic among enthusiasts. This is truly a representative album of Dylan’s work this year!
