This is BLACK SABBATH in 1977/1978. They were about to enter the studio to record “NEVER SAY DIE” in September 1977, but Ozzy suddenly left just before that. Tony Iommi asked his old friend Dave Walker (formerly of SAVOY BROWN, FLEETWOOD MAC, MISTRESS, etc.) to join. Ozzy returned as early as January of the following year, but in the meantime they made one appearance on the TV show “LOOK! HEAR!” where they performed a new song.
[January 6: The only video from the Walker era, “LOOK! HEAR!”]
The opening of this work is the BBC TV program “LOOK! HEAR!”. Only audio has been distributed for some time, but a multi-camera pro-shot video version has recently been discovered. This work includes Sabbath’s performance part from that best master.
Currently, various news sites are showing about five and a half minutes of footage, but this work is different. It was released on DVD directly from the leaked master, which also shows vivid color bars, and it’s about seven and a half minutes long. This program reports on the week’s entertainment news, but it’s already full of the feeling of the times. The lineup of films alone is dizzying, including “Star Wars (the first one!),” “The Gauntlet,” and “The Deep,” and it also touches on the solo careers of Mick Jagger and David Bowie.
Of course, the highlight is the Walker SABBATH live performance. While only the intro before the vocals of “War Pigs” is included, the new song “Junior’s Eyes” is performed in full. Since the lyrics were rewritten after Ozzy returned, Walker’s temporary lyrics are included here, and his bluesy vocals are unlike any other singers to date. Not only the video quality, but the audio quality is also on a different level than ever before, so the day has finally come when you can enjoy the “legendary Walker SABBATH” in fully official quality!
[May 25th / June 22nd: Two “TOP OF THE POPS”]
”Walker SABBATH” is a hugely impactful album, but one and a half songs is not enough. Therefore, this work also includes a number of professional shots from the “NEVER SAY DIE!” era after Ozzy’s return as the best master.
The key to this is the BBC’s famous program “TOP OF THE POPS.” He has appeared twice on the new song “Never Say Die,” and this work includes both of them as upgraded masters. This is a top-of-the-line updated version that is several levels more beautiful than the masterpiece press DVD “THE OZZY OSBOURNE YEARS” version.
[June 19: Hammersmith Performance Pro Shot + 1]
The final section is a traditional video that symbolizes Sabbath in the 1970s. It is a multi-camera pro shot of the Hammersmith performance, also known as the official video “NEVER SAY DIE.” The official DVD has long been out of print, and even used ones are at a premium price, but this work has been made into a DVD from the best master.
This is such a famous video that you’ve probably seen it under some title, but this release also includes one more song, “A Hard Road.” This is a clip with video over the album track, and the video was taken at the sound check at Hammersmith Odeon on June 19th, the same venue as the live performance. The stage and costumes are the same as the actual concert.
This compilation features the much talked about “Dave Walker SABBATH” that has been creating a huge impact, the highest quality “TOP OF THE POPS,” and the traditional Hammersmith footage with clips taken during sound checks. This is the ultimate compilation of professional shots from 1978. This is the one you should see right now. Please enjoy the visual beauty of this best master!
A multi-camera pro-shot collection that includes the elusive “SABBATH with Dave Walker.” This disc encompasses the 1978 pro-shots with the best masters, featuring not only Walker SABBATH but also two “TOP OF THE POPS” performances at the highest quality. The out-of-print Hammersmith footage also includes the sound check “A Hard Road (Clip).” This is an absolute masterpiece that completes the “NEVER SAY DIE!” era with a fully official master.
