Description

EUROPEAN IMPORT – 1 CD Billy Joel was only twenty-two years old, had an unnoticed record to promote and a record contract to get out of, when, on April 15, 1972, he played for a small audience of invited guests at the Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia. The entire show, at the time broadcast by the local broadcaster Wmmr-Fm, is contained in this CD which reveals an already talented artist, aware of his means but still ‘hungry’. A unique opportunity to listen to him in a intimate and relaxed, accompanied by a band that includes Larry Russell (bass), Al Hertzberg (lead guitar) and Rhys Clark (drums), grappling with the repertoire of the album ‘Cold Spring Harbor’ released the previous year and with pieces already excellent like the lively ‘Everybody loves you now’. The New York singer-songwriter’s rise to international fame began from here. 1. Jackson Browne WMMR Intro 2. Falling Of The Rain 3. Travelin’ Prayer 4. The Ballad Of Billy The Kid 5.
