★UNRELEASED TRACKS & UPGRADE!!!!!
This upgraded Beatles demo collection, including the 1963 demo versions of “Misery,” “Love of the Loved,” and “What Goes On,” which were suddenly uploaded to the internet at the end of the year and became a hot topic, is now available in press! This title is recorded in chronological order!
Last year was a year packed with rare Beatles recordings, but the year was capped off with a fitting end with a series of early Beatles demos. Previously rumored or only briefly released for a few seconds, these demos have finally surfaced in their entirety. Furthermore, csnyfan, a leading figure in the Beatles recording world alongside Lord Reith and Master Jedi, has remastered and compiled these previously released demos. Based on his “OFF THE CUFF” file, Merseyside Label has reconstructed them and released them as an even more comprehensive collection of Beatles demos! The first half of the album was a series of astonishing recordings.
The opening track, “Misery,” was recorded at the Cavern Club in late January 1963 as a song for Helen Shapiro, and its raw finish is fresher than the version later recorded by the Beatles themselves. The next track, “Love of the Loved,” had been rumored to exist due to a photo of the acetate label circulating, but it was recorded more than a year after the Decca audition, when it was decided to offer it as Cilla Black’s debut track.
When they finally appeared, Paul’s singing style was a little different from usual, and initially there were rumors that it was fake or an AI, but it was ultimately determined to be a genuine Beatles performance. Above all, the atmosphere of the performance is very similar to the demo of the long-familiar “Bad To Me,” suggesting that it was recorded around the same time. Listening to them together like this will surely convince you. Incidentally, the sound of “Bad To Me” has also improved considerably since the days of “Acetates (Yellow Dog).” The periodic scratchy noise that was previously heard is completely gone.
Finally, the complete version of “What Goes On,” which has been released in bits and pieces over the years, has finally been released. It’s still fresh in our memory that the longest version of this song was included on the best-selling “The Essential Acetates 1958-1970,” but when the full performance finally appears in 1963, it sounds like a completely different song. The rendition, which led Lord Reith to say, “I can hear the influence of Elvis Presley’s ‘Mystery Train,'” is intriguing, and it’s clear that a rockabilly style was intended from the start.
This release also includes Paul’s demos for Peter & Gordon, “A World Without Love” and “I’ll Follow the Sun.” While both have some noise, they are from the time of their release. Following this is a compilation of John’s demos from 1966 to 1968, previously aired on the classic “LOST LENNON TAPES.” Recorded from the original broadcast masters, the sound quality is clearer and longer than the classic “LOST LENNON” LPs. Demo recordings of “She Said She Said,” “Strawberry Fields Forever,” and “Cry Baby Cry” offer a clear distinction from the classic LLT LPs. Even John’s unfinished song “Hold On, I’m Coming,” never aired on “LOST LENNON TAPES,” is included. Of course, it’s not a Sam & Dave track. “Step Inside Love” and “Spiritual Regeneration” are remastered, just like “THE ESSENTIAL.”
Finally, we have included an additional demo of John’s “Now And Then,” now considered a Beatles song. The long-standing crackling and noise issues have been thoroughly cleaned up using the latest remastering technology, and John’s vocals have been given a clearer, more vivid sound. This is the perfect ending to this collection of precious demos.
This title includes a generous 60 minutes of upgraded sources in addition to the original sound source, so please enjoy the Beatles demo sound source collection, which was already a masterpiece from start to finish!
