This video documentary traces the history of the Beatles, with planning for the project said to have begun even before the Beatles’ breakup in 1970. The original plan was to release the film as “The Long and Winding Road,” a compilation of archival footage of live performances, interviews, etc. under the suggestion of Neil Aspinall of Apple, but the film was never released, although rumors of its production continued into the 1970s after the breakup. The film was later realized as an anthology project in the 1990s, but here we present the latest compilation of selected sound and video footage based on the original project “The Long and Winding Road,” which was to be the first official documentary on the Beatles. The CD contains 26 tracks in chronological order, from their debut to their breakup, as a songtrack to the film. The CD contains 26 tracks in chronological order from the debut to the breakup, some of which are duplicated in the anthology, but all of them are newly recorded from different sources, and all of the original mono tracks have been remastered in AI stereo for the latest upgrade, making this a new anthology compilation with different sources compared to previous recordings. The DVD contains a newly edited video version of the original video material that was to be included on “The Video Masters”, reproduced in AI color for the first time. Early black-and-white footage such as Cavern’s “Sam Other Guy” and British TV’s “Yesterday” are brought back to life in vivid color, as well as outtakes from promo videos, all in the best possible high-definition quality. The documentary “The Long and Winding Road,” which was never completed at the time of the original project in the 1970s, is included in a new restored and improved version. Unlike later anthologies, this one is only available here. Unlike the later anthologies, this new version includes edits that can only be seen here, making it a must-see for collectors. The Long and Winding Road” is the source for the anthology project, a documentary that traces the history of the Beatles, and is now available in a new collector’s edition on CD and DVD.
