Budokan, Tokyo, Japan 30th June 1966

Taken from the original Japanese LP(OG-545)
★All Beatles Budokan recordings began with this miraculous record! OG Label’s legendary LP, OG-545, was the first to be released as a recording of the first day of the Budokan concert on June 30, 1966. It was one of the first to record the then unreleased video audio, and is still considered special among enthusiasts as the “most natural, freshest, high-quality sound source.” This time, we used an OG-545 in particularly clear condition to achieve a miraculous clean transfer that reproduces the performance stress-free in modern environments!
It’s time to look back on The Beatles’ visit to Japan again this year. The Beatles Budokan seems to have been exhausted as an item, but the historical release that started it all was the first release of the LP “LIVE IN TOKYO,” commonly known as “OG-545,” which recorded the June 30th performance released by the legendary label “OG.” This is not only the most important release that is the starting point for all Budokan first day items, but also an item that boasts natural and wonderful sound quality that has not faded even now.
However, the generation that grew up with “The Beatles Dictionary” or “The Beatles Bootleg Dictionary” must have been more impressed by “OG-640” with its impressive slick than “OG-545”, the first release of the same “LIVE IN TOKYO”. In fact, the original “OG-545” only came into the limelight after the 21st century…or rather, it’s a more recent story. It was often overlooked, not only because of the slick, but also because of its plain white jacket and red label. In fact, it has been discovered in recent years that some stores that sold this LP released it with their own handmade slicks.
The secret to the popularity of the OG-545, which has a modest presence as an item, in recent years is its excellent sound quality! The video of the June 30th performance, which even non-enthusiasts have probably seen at least once, was shelved at the time and almost no one knew about its existence. The OG-545 was made by extracting the sound from a videotape that had been kept secret during that time and making it into a record.
Unlike the June 30th items that have been released as many as stars up to now, the fact that “OG-545” was recorded six years after it was recorded is huge. The sound quality is very fresh and natural. The high quality of the sound, which is comparable to that of the 1972 release, and is comparable to that of the current ears, has been a major factor in its reevaluation in recent years.
In 1972, it was an extremely high-quality LP, and even if it was copied, it was still possible to release a high-quality release. In fact, through a maniac, “OG-545” was passed on to Ken Douglas of TMOQ across the ocean, and it was copied for the first release of the TAKRL label, “ON STAGE IN JAPAN – THE 1966 TOUR,” which became a huge bestseller. It turned out to be a very American development, with more copies being produced.
And the worst part is the fact that the “OG” label itself could not surpass the sound quality of the initial release “OG-545”. On the contrary, the reissue “OG-640” with its familiar slick jacket had a clearly worse sound quality than “OG-545”, and the opening changed from a cut-in to a fade-in, and the recording time was slightly shorter.
However, since “OG-545” itself is a confident work in terms of its contents, the number of pressings is not small (naturally), and it is by no means the most difficult item to find. However, it is not easy to obtain. And even if you find it, its value has now spread among enthusiasts, so it now has a premium price. Even now, it remains an unshakable representative of the legendary “OG” label in terms of items, sound source, and sound quality.
In addition, the “OG-545” itself is literally a vintage LP from over 50 years ago. It is not easy to obtain or play it in a clean condition. In the meantime, this time, the CD was made based on the miraculously clean version of the same board. On top of that, a clean transfer was achieved by carefully removing the scratch noise. Furthermore, the phase fluctuation that occurred when extracting the audio from the video was converted to mono, resulting in a stable mono sound without any mixing. In addition, the pitch was thoroughly corrected. The natural and clean June 30th performance, which was already engraved in the era of 1972, was recorded in even the best condition. The original high-quality sound source has been further refined.

The first day of the Budokan, where recent items such as the HMC record have been popular, you can enjoy the mint sound of 1972, which should be said to be the original appearance, without noise and with peace of mind. Please spend June 30th of this year with this high-quality title. The Beatles’ first day at the Budokan All roads lead to “OG-545”!
