BEATLES – LIVE FROM ADELAIDE

1960’s Records releases an unofficial LP of a precious document of the tour that took the Beatles to Australia in 1964. The vinyl reproduces in its entirety the 10-song setlist performed on June 12 of that year at the Centennial Hall in Adelaide and broadcast in mono by the radio station 2SM, adding some songs performed in Melbourne on June 16 and Sydney on June 18 (partly taken from vintage newsreels) as well as the recording of the press conference held by the Liverpool quartet in Adelaide. Due to Ringo Starr’s tonsillitis that had made him unavailable, Jimmy Nicol sat behind the drums on those shows, although the absence of microphones positioned on the drum kit makes his contribution imperceptible (apart from the final mix of “I Saw Her Standing There”). For the rest, the sound quality is more than satisfactory, with good performance of the voices and other instruments.
