The Beatles
Anthology Project, a long-planned project chronicling the history of The Beatles from their origins to their breakup, was announced in 1995 as a trilogy of rare albums, books, and video works, attracting the attention of Beatles fans worldwide. The trilogy of albums chronicles the band’s history from pre-debut to their breakup, revealing previously unreleased studio outtakes, TV recordings, and live concert recordings. The project also features two new songs, “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love,” based on recordings left behind by John Lennon. The final new track in the trilogy, “Now and Then,” remained unreleased at the time, but was finally released in 2023 for the first time in 27 years. It still garnered attention as “The Beatles’ final new song.” Unreleased Beatles songs were previously planned for release on the album “Sessions,” but were shelved. Unofficially released in the 1980s on albums like “Ultra Rare Tracks” and “Understanding Past Masters,” this “Anthology” project, a trilogy of albums and a video, garnered attention at the time as a culmination of previously unreleased audio and video material. However, the “Anthology” project is a carefully curated collection, and there are still many unreleased recordings from Abbey Road Studios and live recordings and video footage from around the world, many of which are still unreleased. Future releases, including new discoveries, are anticipated.

[Anthology 3: Anniversary Edition]
This 30th Anniversary Edition of “Anthology Extra” features newly added material not previously included in the “Anthology 1-3” series. It also includes newly discovered outtakes and demos, a total of 89 tracks, including new material not previously included in the highly anticipated “Anthology 4” series. Like previous releases, the sound quality has been improved over the originals, and the album features uncut editing and AI-edited demixing, converting mono to true stereo. This must-see “extra” edition features newly discovered and previously unreleased material, all remastered and remastered. The releases are presented in chronological order, beginning with five demos of original compositions recorded at Paul’s home in 1960, none of which are covers. This historic record reveals that, as Paul stated in the film “Let It Be,” he was already composing music on a daily basis at this time. The 1962 Hamburg Star Club live performance, recorded after Ringo joined the band, is recorded in a newly restored stereo demix. It features a selection of familiar Beatles tracks, including later live repertoire, original recordings, and covers, allowing you to hear the differences between them. The following three 1963 demos are newly discovered recordings, previously rumored to exist at auction. They include the Cavern recording of “Misery,” the complete recording of “Love of the Loved,” “What Goes On,” and the longest version of “If I Fell.” Many of the other studio outtakes have also been converted from their original mono versions to stereo demixes, with variations in track order and editing. These familiar outtakes have also been updated in recent years, and a selection of previously unreleased material not included on the official box set is also noteworthy. Finally, the three new tracks added as part of the Anthology Project—”Free as a Bird,” “Real Love,” and “Now and Then”—are fully restored and remixed versions, distinct from the controversial official mixes. Of course, these are new original remixes that are different from those included in this anniversary series. The jacket design is subtly different from the original, featuring unfinished prototypes and rough designs. This “extra” release, a must-have for Beatles collectors, compiles previously unreleased tracks and is a sequel to the 2026 30th Anniversary Edition of “The Beatles Anthology.”
