Anniversary New Masters Edition [3CD] Goldies GSB2502CD1/2/3 ■30th anniversary edition with all tracks newly mastered, including newly discovered and never-before-seen recordings ■A newly edited, expanded, and revised version of all 84 tracks, with the addition of numerous unreleased recordings, including outtakes and demos not included on the originals, as well as TV shows and live performances ■Includes the latest remix of “Real Love” and other upgraded recordings, including stereo demixes and new remixes from the original recordings [The Beatles Anthology Project] The “Anthology” project, which compiled the history of The Beatles from their origins to their breakup, was planned for many years and announced in 1995 as a wide-ranging project ranging from a trilogy of albums featuring rare recordings to books and video works including TV broadcasts, attracting the attention of Beatles fans around the world. The trilogy of albums chronicles the band’s history, from their pre-debut period through to their breakup. Featuring previously unreleased studio outtakes, TV footage, and live concert recordings, the project also features two new songs, “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love,” based on recordings left behind by John Lennon. The final new song in the trilogy, “Now and Then,” remained unreleased at the time, but was finally released in 2023 for the first time in 27 years. It still garnered attention as the “final new Beatles song.” Unreleased Beatles material was previously planned for release on the album “Sessions,” but was shelved. In the 1980s, unofficial releases like “Ultra Rare Tracks” and “Underpast Masters” were unofficially released. The trilogy of albums and video works from this “anthology” project garnered significant attention at the time as a culmination of previously unreleased recordings and footage. However, “Anthology” is a carefully curated collection, and there are still many unreleased recordings from Abbey Road Studios and live recordings and footage from around the world that have yet to be released. Future releases, including new discoveries, are anticipated. [Anthology 2: Anniversary Edition] This 30th anniversary edition of “Anthology 2” features a newly edited and expanded version of all 84 tracks, including numerous unreleased tracks from the 1996 release, including outtakes, demos, TV shows, and live performances. Not only does it offer improved sound quality compared to the original, but it also features more uncut editing and AI-edited demixing, converting mono to true stereo. It also features a completely updated and renewed collection of new masters, including newly discovered and never-before-seen recordings. “Anthology 2” includes the 1965 album “Help!” This disc covers the band’s musical transformation from the historic Shea Stadium concert, the largest concert in history, to the miraculously surviving Japanese performances, through the albums “Rubber Soul” and “Revolver,” to 1968, following “Sgt. Pepper’s.” Disc 1 begins with the new song “Real Love,” just like the original. It features a newly remixed version that enhances John’s vocals and the quality of the performance itself. This is followed by studio sessions from the album “Help!”. It includes three tracks not included on the original, including “Help!” and “Yesterday,” as well as unreleased tracks “If You’ve Got Trouble” and “That Means a Lot,” and outtakes of “Blow Your Heart Out” and “It’s Only Love,” all in a newly remixed stereo version, improving the sound quality from the original mono recording. The latter half of Disc 1 and Disc 2 feature numerous outtakes from the albums “Rubber Soul” and “Revolver.” The disc includes extended versions of “Michelle,” “Girl,” and “In My Life,” as well as the unreleased “12-Bar Original.” All of the “Revolver” album-related material is also available in a different version from the original, revealing differences in mixes, studio chats, intros, and endings. The second half of Disc 2 features seven tracks from the 1966 Japan tour, which only featured two tracks on the original anthology. The audio is also updated with a new stereo mix, capturing the band’s final performance as their concert career drew to a close. Disc 3 begins with “Strawberry Fields Forever” and continues with outtakes from the renowned “Sgt. Pepper’s” and “Magical Mystery Tour” era. The disc also includes extended mixes and longer versions of overlapping tracks, including the historic recording of “All You Need Is Love,” broadcast live worldwide via satellite, which was not included on the original, and “Christmas Time (Is Here Again),” which was originally only available on the “Real Love” single. [3-CD set with obi strip, original import pressing]
