Description
That the Beach Boys actually performed in Santa Monica on August 15, 1965 is not reported by any of the most reliable sources: the fact remains that this unofficial CD released by the Danish label Blue Line contains the radio recording of a concert from that year, when Brian Wilson (vocals, bass and keyboards) was still performing alongside his brothers Carl (lead guitar and vocals) and Dennis (drums and vocals), his cousin Mike Love (lead vocals and saxophone) and Al Jardine (rhythm guitar and vocals). “Long Tall Texas” which opens a setlist full of early classics (“In My Room”, “Fun Fun Fun”, “Surfer Girl”, “I Get Around”, “Little Deuce Coupe”, “Don’t Worry Baby”, “Surfin’ USA”) opens with a “Long Tall Texas” which is actually “Long Tall Sally” by Little Richard and contains other covers such as “Johnny B. Goode” by Chuck Berry and “Monster Mash” by Bobby “Boris” Pickett.
