Description
Live in Enoshima, Kanagawa, Japan 4th August 1979 SBD (Remastered)
From “JAPAN JAM ’79”, the live performance on the first day of the Enoshima performance on August 4th was recorded from the radio broadcast source, including member interviews, in a 44-minute high-quality soundboard recording. This is the best version, which was originally recorded on the Masterport board “JAPAN JAM ’79 IN ENOSHIMA”, and was appropriately remastered, adjusted to a more listenable sound, and corrected the slightly high pitch. The first 38 seconds are an interview with Heart’s Ann Wilson, who stood on stage before the Beach Boys, and she comments, “The Beach Boys are great people.” The radio recording starts with the opening announcement, “Would you please welcome, from Sourthern California, The Beach Boys!”. The entire concert is about 70 minutes long, while the actual live performance is just under 40 minutes long, but you can enjoy the very valuable line recording of the day, including the member interviews sandwiched in between. Although it is a digest-like content, you can get almost the entire picture of the concert. The full Japanese version of Sumahama is also included, but Mike says in the MC that the translation was written by his friend Fumiko (this explanation was not given the next day). The interviews recorded on track 13 seem to be with the members who retreated before the encore, with Carl saying, “At first the guitar wasn’t so good, but it got better after a few songs,” and Mike saying, “We’re about to do the encore, and the audience seemed to like us,” in a passionate mood. The sound is fresh and the sound source is great, but the scale and thickness of the sound, and the heat that is enveloping the venue, feel more real in the audience recording, which shows how excellent the recording on the second day that appeared this time is.
