This Japan tour, centered around original members Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks, features a plethora of hits, new material, and even guest appearances by Christopher Cross and members of AMERICA during the encore, making it a truly “Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
This title captures the Beach Boys’ literally “true to their name” sound with a superb sound, featuring beautiful chorus work and excellent balance and separation of each instrument. We confidently recommend this album to all fans, and it’s the definitive version of this tour in terms of both sound quality and performance content.
Furthermore, the second half of Disc 2 includes a complete recording of the American stage, where they served as the opening act, in a stunning audience recording. The contents, including the smash hit “A Horse Without a Name” and a cover of the Mamas & the Papas’ “California Dreamin’,” are far too extravagant to be called an opening act.
