Recorded at The Power Station in New York on different sessions in the Summer of 1984 with Eddie Kramer, Vini Poncia and Chris Kimsey STEREO SBD
A year and a half after leaving KISS, Ace Frehley had started his own band in 1984, and was planning to return to the scene. Two studio recordings, which could be described as “Frehley’s Comet’s 0th album,” have been scheduled for simultaneous release.
This is the first of two simultaneous releases. It’s a soundboard album compiling studio demos produced at Power Station Studios in the summer of 1984. While Frehley’s Comet debuted in 1987, Ace’s predecessor, a solo band, launched in 1984. Speaking of pre-debut, we’ve archived the live albums “THE FIRST SHOW: SIR STUDIOS 1984 (Shades 2470)” and “L’AMOUR 1985 1ST NIGHT (Shades 2489),” and this week we’re also releasing the studio album “MEGAFORCE DEMOS 1985 (Shades 2547).” Let’s start by taking a bird’s-eye view of their activities at the time and see where they fit into each other.
●1984
(Early: FREHLEY’S COMET formed)
(Summer: Demos recorded) ←★Here
★ November 30th “SIR STUDIOS 1984”
●1985
March 1st-9th: USA (7 shows) ←★※L’AMOUR 1985 1ST NIGHT

(Autumn: Demos recorded) ←※MEGAFORCE DEMOS 1985
(Arthur Stead and Richie Scarlett leave)
This is Ace Frehley from 1984/1985. “SIR STUDIOS 1984” was their first public live performance, but this is a collection of demos recorded before that .
This work is also a best-of master collection supervised by an overseas KISS expert. Because the demos were recorded in several sessions, the quality of each song varies, but overall, they are all top-notch versions. The expert carefully examined each existing take, eliminating fakes. Only the best versions are included.
The resulting album is so satisfying it’s no exaggeration to call it “Frehley’s Comet’s 0th album.” While the term “demo” can encompass a wide range of recordings, from memo recordings of ideas to rough mixes for a full album, this one was a “temporary album to get a contract.” At the time, they didn’t have a record contract, so they enlisted Eddie Kramer, their longtime friend from KISS, to promote themselves to Bronze Records.
[A studio album that compiles completed, unreleased songs]
As a result, the songs are perfectly finished. Of course, since they weren’t recorded for an official release, they’re rough, but the song arrangements are well thought out, and the music itself seems to say, “Are you going to sign us, we’ve got such great songs?” In fact, some of the songs were later included on official albums (in re-recorded versions), so be sure to check that out as well.
●Officially re-recorded songs (3 songs)
: Back Into My Arms Again [10,000 VOLTS] / Give It To Me Anyway [★: LOADED DECK] / Remember Me [TROUBLE WALKIN’]
●Unreleased songs with no official versions (8 songs)
: Rock Or Be Rocked (★) / I Got The Touch / The Girl Can’t Dance / AudioVideo / I’m An Animal / I’m So Wired [WIRED UP] / Stay Alive / The Hurt Is On (★)
*Note: Songs marked with “★” have alternate takes available on “MEGAFORCE DEMOS 1985.”
…and so it goes. The ones in brackets are the official albums, containing re-recorded takes. You can enjoy 11 unreleased tracks, none of which overlap with “FREHLEY’S COMET” or “SECOND SIGHTING.” “I’m So Wired” may be an unfamiliar song title, but it was written by Jeff Paris and Jerry Knight. Ace did not re-record it, but it was retitled “Wired Up” and included on Jeff’s second album.
This studio album goes beyond the demo level and can only be called “FREHLEY’S COMET’s 0th album.” This is an absolute masterpiece, bringing together these treasured takes with the best masters supervised by researchers. Please enjoy it to your heart’s content.
This studio demo album was produced at Power Station Studios in the summer of 1984, shortly after the band’s formation. It was produced with Eddie Kramer in attendance to promote the band to Bronze Records. Carefully curated by an international KISS expert, this “Frehley’s Comet’s 0th album” features 11 unreleased tracks, none of which overlap with “Frehley’s Comet” or “Second Sighting.”
