It’s a parade of rare footage unearthed from the KISS archives that will surprise any fan. This first installment focuses on the landmark album “KISS MY ASS” itself. Now, let’s take a look at the contents of each disc.
●DISC 1: Chapter 1 “KISS MY ASS Recording Sessions”
Disc 1 opens with the recording sessions for “KISS MY ASS” in January 1994. This is an extremely rare master video from the KISS archives. It includes previously unreleased footage of the SHANDI’S ADDICTION session featuring Tom Morello, Billy Gould, Brad Wilk, and others, as well as Stevie Wonder and Gene Simmons recording “Deuce.”
■DISC 1: Chapter 2-16 “KISS MY ASS Promotional TV Footage (5 types)”
The main focus of DISC 1 is a wealth of TV appearances related to the album “KISS MY ASS”. Chapter 2-3 is the MTV special “Most Wanted” broadcast on March 3, 1995. This is footage of KISS, who visited the UK to promote the album, appearing as guests on Ray Cokes’ famous segment “Bingo Wall Of Death”. Here, KISS performs an acoustic version of “Goin’ Blind” for the first time ever. You can enjoy a deeply moving and ethereal acoustic performance.
Chapter 4 features a rare TV commercial for the album “KISS MY ASS.” Though short, it captures the atmosphere of that time.
Chapters 5-8 are the complete version of the legendary “The Tonight Show With Jay Leno” episode that aired on May 11, 1995. In addition to the fantastic performance of “Hard Luck Woman” by Garth Brooks and KISS, it also includes the hilarious interview in its entirety. This is a rare video transferred from the original VHS master.
Chapter 9 features a rare interview with Gene Simmons by “Sound FX TV”.
A must-see is the MTV “Headbangers Ball” special on “KISS MY ASS” in Chapters 10-16. This special features the album “KISS MY ASS” and the upcoming video compilation “KISS MY ASS THE VIDEO,” centered around an interview with Gene, and includes a music video for Stuttering John (John Melendez)’s “I’ll Talk My Way Out Of It,” featuring Gene, Sting, and Nuno Bettencourt, as well as rough cut footage from “KISS MY ASS THE VIDEO” and a live performance of “Parasite,” among other things.

■DISC 2: Chapter 1-12 “Various TV Appearances (7 types)”
DISC 2, in place of the previous disc, is also packed with TV appearances promoting “KISS MY ASS.” Enjoy Lauryn Sidney’s report on CNN’s “Showbiz” in May 1994 and Gene Simmons’ humorous interview on “Much Music” in June.
While the music video for “Detroit Rock City” by THE MIGHTY MIGHTY BOSSTONES, which also features Gene, is interesting, the must-see is the MTV “Coca-Cola Report” in Chapters 4-5. Rebecca De Ruvo meets Gene at a famous Los Angeles club and they talk about KISS, and you can also enjoy seeing members of KISS, Slayer, and Anthrax playing a survival game modeled after the Iraq War.
Chapters 6-12 follow with Roger Rose’s “R&R,” which aired on June 11, 1994. This is the complete version of a rare TV talk show, featuring interviews with Gene and Paul alternating with a Q&A session with fans. It was transcribed from a master VHS tape recorded off the air.
Chapter 13 is “The Pontiac Raid News” from 1994. It captures a precious moment in KISS history, showing Paul and Jean appearing at a convention.
Among the barrage of TV footage, the coolest is Chapter 14’s “The Late Show With David Letterman.” Aired on July 26, 1994, it features a unique performance of “Christine Sixteen” by The Blossoms and KISS.
●DISC 2: Chapters 15-18 “KISS MY ASS The Video Outtakes”
DISC 2 concludes with a collection of outtakes from “KISS MY ASS THE VIDEO,” filmed in June 1994. These are master materials unearthed from the KISS archives and never before seen by the public.
