POWER CORD – 2 CD
Description
Kicking off on March 1, 1977, in Aylesbury, England, Iggy Pop’s “Idiot Tour” then traveled to Canada and the United States, concluding in mid-April after 29 concerts. This unofficial Power Chord double CD documented the March 21 shows at Cleveland’s Agora Ballroom, broadcast on WMMS-FM, and the April 15 show at Santa Monica’s Civic Auditorium, which was featured on the nationally syndicated King Biscuit Flower Hour, interspersed with interview excerpts. In both, the Michigan vocalist is joined by David Bowie (piano and backing vocals), Ricky Gardiner (guitar), Tony Sales (bass) and Hunt Sales (drums): the quintet performs “Funtime” and “Sister Midnight” from the new album, the still unreleased “Turn Blue” (later included in “Lust For Life”) and many songs taken from the Stooges’ repertoire (“Raw Power”, “TV Eye”, “Dirt”, “1969”, “Gimme Danger”, “No Fun”, “I Need Somebody”, “Search And Destroy”, “I Wanna Be Your Dog”)
