Description

Blue Line is releasing an unofficial CD of a memorable musical encounter between Etta James and Bob Dylan on July 10, 1986. After finishing his concert at the Civic Center in Providence with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, the Duluth singer-songwriter went to the club at the local Marriott Hotel to see the great Los Angeles soul/blues/R&B singer perform. Spotted in the audience and invited to the stage, Dylan joined a large band on rhythm guitar that included Shuggie Otis on lead, Jack McDuff on organ, Richard Reid on bass, Paul Humphrey on drums, and an unidentified backing vocalist on a song sequence that included classics by Hank Williams, Slim Harpo, and the doo-wop group The Penguins, as well as standards like “Let The Good Times Roll” and “Goodnight Sweetheart.” The recording is a radio broadcast.
